Default Headphones and a PS3

Is there a way i can use headphones on a PS3 without using a Receiver? Maybe headphones that has a usb cable like gaming ones? I dont care to talk, but just to hear whats going on in the video game. I put my PS3 in my room and hooked it up to my 22" monitor via hdmi to dvi cable. Thanx!!

why dont you just plug the headphones into your tv. also, you dont have to have a head set to hear the other people chat

Because my PS3 is hooked up to my computer monitor via hdmi to dvi, meaning, no sound to my monitor, therefor I cannot hear through the monitor> Something has to be connected through the PS3.

Assuming you still have the A/V cables that came with your system, you can buy an RCA to headphone jack adapter (you might need an additional gender changer for the headphone jack). You'll probably want headphones with volume control too, since the sound will probably be very loud with this method.

I doubt a USB headphone set would work for normal game audio (might work for hearing voice chat), but I don't know for sure. And I guess if you wanted to be really hardcore about it, you could get a set of headphones that take an optical audio input... but a receiver might be cheaper.

You can get these:
http://www.amazon.com/Force-Digital-...6772418&sr=8-1

They have an optical input and dolby digital decoding, and they're wireless.

I have them and I love it.

Weird question lol: how loud is the volume when you guys play and use headphones? The reason why i'm asking is you could be playing Call of Duty or something with the sound blasting... very close to your ears.

i have the sennheiser 130 wireless headphones...not too bad...sometimes you get a little interference...but you just have to have the receiver positioned right....all so a little uncomfortable to lounge out with them on.

The PS3 doesn't have an option for Stereo Bluetooth game audio yet. It's just designed for communication.
