Default Sony 350 problem solved?

I called Sony today, and I was very pleasantly surprised to find out that they are going to send me a disc with the 019 firmware upgrade (the latest from late April) for my BDP-S350!!!!
I could have sworn up and down that Sony did not offer firmware upgrades on a disc to send to you -- I thought they could only be downloaded off the internet onto a Windows PC only (and I'm a devout Mac owner )
Can't wait to get up to date!

Jodi

Excellent. Yes, Sony offers firmware upgrades on CD. Glad you are getting the latest one. I have the Sony BDP-S350 and all my BDs play just fine.

Just turn on your TV and player, insert the CD and follow the on-screen instructions. Updating will take about 10 minutes, just so you know. It's not a rapid thing. When done, the player will eject the CD and power off. When you restart your player, check the firmware (in the player's menu) to see if it is .019.

If you've never updated your firmware before (I assume you have not), and your original firmware version was .007, then with your update, you will have BD-Live capability on S350 as well.

Yeah they always send the firmware upgrades on cds as far back as I can remember...only problem is they take a while doing it. Pioneer does even better and sends em over on flash drives!

I take it you aren't running Parallels or Fusion?

You're right, my 350 is straight out of the box and has never received a firmware upgrade of any kind. Thanks for the instructions -- it all does sound familiar, though.

Should be a walk in the park! Doesn't take as long as the instructions state. Just sit yourself down in front of it and wait for it to complete and you should be right as rain!
