Question PS3 Problem: EJECT

My ps3 will not eject the disc~!

after multiple attempts:
-ps button shutdown
-power switch shutdown
-eject button on console
-eject shortcut using the ps3 controller
-eject using the ps3 BD remote button

so i have used all these methods in attempt to eject the disc.

does anyone have any ideas or advice on how to go about on solving this problem?
(before i call sony)

the upside to this is that i made my purchase at Costco. so i know i can easliy return this, but my concern is that i have purchase content off the ps store and Costco only has the 40gb model. I currently have the 60gb model (i do want backward capability)

another thing i have taken in to conserderation is that sony blog announced the release date of the ps3 MGS edition in another month or so... is it worth waiting to exchange it for that model?

{don't know if i can go that long with out BD or PS3 games )

ONE MORE THING:
I MADE THE PURCHASE IN 2006

Clean the PS3 eject button then do it again.

Try ejecting while the unit is off (red light only). Always worked for me.

Yeah, I second that. If something in the system (OS) is keeping it locked, maybe that will work.

don't tell me that you might have accidentally put 2 discs in there. that is the problem mainly when you have that kind of opening to put discs in there. This is actually my only problem with sony DVD players. I had the sony dream system and it had the same type of disc insert such as the one on the PS3. my younger brother put in a disc not knowing that there is another disc already in place. and that caused it to malfunction and not eject.

that could be the issue. also another problem about that kind of insert for discs. Is if you leave a disc in there for sometime. it isn't wise, it causes problems. and that could also be the issue.

and as for the 60GB PS3 i don't think you have a choice but to contact sony, or buy a new HDD and keep the one you already have.

Ask Sony if its alright to keep the HDD and send the system in without it.

Heh. This happened to me with my fat PS2. 2 discs were stuck together and i diddnt notice - I just stuck them both in the console.
After that the disc tray wouldnt open....

SO i took it apart, lifted the cover off the DVD drive, got my discs out, cleaned the laser (), and put it back together.

That was stupid advice... dont do that with your ps3.

If the disc cannot be removed: Back to top

* Touch the eject button on the PLAYSTATION®3 system front for 10 seconds or longer to force the disc to eject. After removing and before reinserting a disc into the PLAYSTATION®3, turn off the system, and then turn on the system again to resume use.

hope that helps

Nice tip and I didn't even realize they had a troubleshooting section so that's good to know also.
