Vertigo came close, but it's still no Dark Knight.

Your sarcasm is noted and appreciated.

Unfortunately, I found myself replying to one of the posts you're referring to... so in reality I helped perpuate them.

I must exercise restraint!

I love Hitch as much as anybody, but even he'd tell you he's made some stinkers. "Paradine Case" and "Topaz" are as bad as any bad film being made today, no joke. And there were close to a dozen or more films that were simply too mediocre to remember, like "I Confess", "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", "Under Capricorn", "Family Plot", etc... And I'm just talking about his post-1940 works. Good films from his days in England are actually the exception, not the rule.

Hitch is remebered (and rightly so) for the one out of three films he made that turned out to be genuine classics. Considering his prolific output, one out of three isn't bad by a long shot, and the man has made more classics than most directors ever will.

Topaz is hardly a bad movie, and Family Plot is one of his most beloved by critics, Under Capricorn is very positively reviewed as well. Hitchcock is one the bigger influences over the entire movie industry and at least a dozen of his movies have direct descendants being made over and over year after year......

If Psycho is considered one of Alfred's better movies then I have no reason to bother watching any of his others because I found that movie to be horrible. That's just my opinion.

Hitchcock was good in the day...... but you couldn't expect him to make masterpieces like Cloverfield or Speed Racer.... he just didn't have the tools necessary.

Now if Hitchcock had Will Smith at his disposal instead of this James Stewart clown........ he might have been able to make some entertaining films.....
