Question PS3 audio issue. Please help if u can

For some reason if I pause a movie for too long the audio will stop working. I must rewind a few seconds and then press play in order for the sound to turn back on. Anyone know what'sw going on? I have 2 optical inputs, but for some unknown reason, only one works.

How long is "too long"? If you don't rewind, does the sound start up again a few seconds after pressing play? If so maybe your receiver is going into some sort of "sleep" mode (even if it's not visibly apparent on the receiver display)?
