Default What % are Blu-rays getting on BUYBACKS?

Just wondering here, what percent are retailers like Blockbuster, Gamestop etc. giving you to BUYBACK your used/new Blu-rays? I haven't tried it yet, I'm assuming it is probably like 5 to 10 dollars at best. (I know you could get alot more to sell here or on ebay/amazon, but what do B&M give you?)

Oh, and what if any are the guide lines or standard % that you would hope to get if you were to sell here or on ebay. Like if you bought a Blu for say $20 bucks and you opened it would it be safe to say you should ask for $10? I have never sold a Blu before so thanks for your help guys.

Thanks for the heads up.

i never trade in to store retailers or anyplace where the movie has to then be sold again because you get majorly ripped off. amazon marketplace, ebay, or craigslist for me. sure the former 2 take a % from you, but you still get a lot more from them than you do from bb or gamestop

I know it's not the "best bet" but sometimes the "store credit" (which is more than cash value) they give you is worth it. Curious if anyone knows.

The only place that I have found that Isn't a complete ripoff is Cd Warehouse. Movie Stop which is owned by Gamestop gives you a pathetic $4 store credit and in some cases will give you a whopping $5 for newly released blu. If you don't want store cedit and get cash it is a 75% of that. Cd Warehouse will give you $9 for newly released and $7-$8 for older titles. When you factor in every blu ray they sell is no more than $15.99 (excluding box sets) its not too bad a deal. I buy 80% of my blu's from them. New sealed blu rays for $15.99. Some used are $10. If you have one in your area I would suggest you check them out.

That's the best I've heard of. I have to check if they have those around me in Phoenix.

Just curious but how long ago did you trade Narnia? The kid behind the counter claimed that they use to give more but couldn't remember how much. Now I'm thinking they were bsing me since they offered me so little.
I was trading Eagle Eye and Watchmen animated and was offered $9 total credit for both.

They seem to be expanding so hopefully Az will get a few. I live outside Atlanta and have 2 within 10 miles opposite directions. They don't have selection of BB but have much better selection than WalMart or Target. Probably 100 or so titles.

I sell all my games on eBay. I just purchased Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, finished it, sold it on ebay for $45.00!

up here in northeast ohio, our cd warehouse locations all changed their name to ....BuyBacks *how appropriate right*...... and the percentages are the exact same as cd warehouse's..if a movie shows up in there the first 2 weeks after it has been released, it is priced at like $20, but drops quickly.. i have sold a few movies there for cash when i was in an emergency bind for brakes, and got a pretty fair amount in exchange. its like it was with dvd for them...if it is a movie that they probably wont recieve many of company wide, then you get a much better rate...example, when i sold my dvds to get blus, i had 2 copies of rocky horror picture show and got the same amount for one of them as i did for transformers/batman begins/harry potter OOTP combined.. but i recommend using them if in a bind, but definately try amazon/ebay/craigslist/or on here first for sure

Games, movies, cds, or whatever it is you are trading in at anywhere will lose value if you keep it for to long. Like for instance if you buy a game on release date which more then likely is $59.99 but wait about a year to trade it in when it's new for $20 you won't get the normal $20-$25 for a new release if you wait that long.

I gave up trading anything in any more. It just isn't worth it IMO. If I have something I want to part with I would start with Ebay or the trading forum here.

Same here, i used to trade in my games all the time because i didn't really want to wait for payment and then go through shipping stuff. But it is the way to go.

I took a few BDs to F.Y.E not too long ago and they wanted to give me $3-$5 for each one in store credit. It it not worth it, I ended up just keeping them because it was just ridiculous, I am sure BB is not much better on the website they have set up for trading in electronics they are ripping people off left and right if they actually go through with the process.

Like some websites that will buy your iPhone, they want to give you a $100 after you send them the phone and check it, why not list it on eBay and make $300+

Trading in to retail stores just doesn't even make sense anymore

If you're in Texas, there a chain called Movie Tarding Company. Depending on the film and the number of copies in stock, I've seen the buy back go up to $20 (mind you that was for Akira whose print run was incompetently low for a film with a cult following like that one.) I saw $12 for Iron Man and Hulk shortly after they came out and 22 episode TV seasons would get up to $22 and sold for $40.

Buybacks never pays as much as a private sale, but some like the FuncoLand / Gamestop ways of trading movies. I'm all for it as a consumer though I only really ever sell back stuff that wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

You almost always get ripped off in trading stuff back, I rather give away to anyone who is wanting the movie.
