Are you going to see Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in the theaters or wait until it hits blu-ray to purchase or rent? Or both?
Just curious. I'll be seeing it this Saturday morning with the 'fam' and will be waiting to purchase all eight movies as a giant package deal hopefully. |

I think that they are splitting the last book in two for two reasons. 1) Money... They want to milk it... And who can blame them? 2) Detail... They really do want to get it right. Maybe they felt certain subplots couldn't be left out. It seems like they could have split the fourth and fifth books into two as well and the sixth... although I haven't seen the new one. But I guess if they were going to do it to any one of them, the last one seems most fitting. That and Radcliffe and the bunch would be about 35 by the time they finished the movies if they split anymore than one into two. |

Probably just going to wait for the Blu, but if my wife really wants to see it then I will go.
Looks like the buzz on it is good so far. Though I am disappointed they are trying to milk the final book into two movies. I hope the final movies are not spaced too far apart. From what was reported this current HP film would have been ready for last Nov. WB just got greedy and decided to wait for summer audiences. Does anyone think they will have any special packaging for the blu for those of us that bought the special years 1-5 collection? Last edited by Tok; 07-14-2009 at 10:18 PM. |

Definetly going to see it this weekend (followed by a showing of Bruno, which i missed last weekend because of work), i missed the first 2 potter films in theatres because i didn't think i'd enjoy them, but as the third was coming out Best buy had the first 2 on DVD for sale so i bought them and loved them and since then i've seen every potter film in theatres (saw OoTP twice)
I also plan to try and watch all 5 movies on blu and then maybe see HbP again next weekend |

Ah, one of my favorite arguments: theater v. home. A friend of mine never goes to the theater, as he has a nice home theater like myself and does not like the idiots that tend to show up. I couldn't disagree more. We argue about this regularly. While I hate the idiots too, I know the best times and places to go to minimize the morons. I also know all the police that work at security at my favorite theater. That being said, movies are not made for your home. They just aren't. I know people will disagree, but they are specifically made with the size of the screen in a theater in mind and crafted with the knowledge that a crowd of people will watch it together. Let's take Transformers 2, for instance. It is a low brow movie. Banal. But I really enjoyed it and had a great time. The incepid jokes got a rise out of the crowd who laughed at the absurity of it which was completely intended by the director. It made me enjoy it more. The theater was huge and ice cold on a very hot day. We had to make a special trip to see it with our family which let to the anticipation. I am sure that without the crowd, the big theater atmosphere, smell of popcorn, etc. that I would not have enjoyed the movie as much. I had an absolute blast as did my family which was just what Michael Bay wanted.
My point is I will ALWAYS go to the theater. I almost never blind buy anything, and it is a rare occurance where I miss a movie in the theater and when I rent it like it so much that I have to buy it (although that did happen last week with Waltz with Bashir). |

I camped out and went to the midnight showing last night/this morning and thought it was great. My second favorite HP film following the order of the pheonix. I plan to see it again in regular theaters, hit up the release in imax, and buy it on blu!
