Arrow WB looking to follow up Harry Potter with Septimus Heap: Magyk

Quote:
Not hours after the trailer for Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief debuted and threatened to become the next Harry Potter, another wannabe is sneaking up right behind it. Septimus Heap: Magyk has been in development at Warner Bros. since the studio picked up rights to the seven-book series in 2007, but now that they've picked a director, things are really cooking. David Frankel, who directed Marley & Me, will take over on Magyk, which tells the story of a boy who is destined to become a wizard and a girl who will be a princess.

Septimus is destined to lose the Harry Potter lookalike contest, though, since Variety reports that the movie will be animated. Really, that's probably for the best-- anything deliberately trying to be Harry Potter Redux will be immediately dismissed as such. Animation might actually be able to set Septimus apart.
Personally I've never heard of this series but I imagine some of you have. Does this series have an opportunity to be epic?
