Default Samsung Help!...please.

Hello. My Samsung LE46A656 is calibrated quite nicely however the picture is too dark. I am losing detail. The general settings are
Contrast 98
Brightness 46
Colour 52
Backlight 7
HDMI Black level low
When I put the HDMI Black level on normal it erradicates the problem, but makes the picture look slightly less rich for lack of a better word. Is there any way to have the nice PQ I have now but without losing detail? I am noob when it comes to these sort of problems lol.

That Contrast number has got to be too high. If i were you i would rent the DVE HD basics disc from Blockbuster online or Netflix. It should help you set up your Contrast and brightness levels to solve this issue.

Check the picture settings threads here and over at the avsforums to get an idea of how other members have set-up their tvs. It could have something to do with the backlight setting or whatever picture mode you calibrated the image from.

Yeah, I think your contrast is set way too high, too. I have a similar TV (LN40A540), and my contrast is set to mid-40s for a moderately lit room.

It depends on the tv I guess, because i have the samsung 850 series touch of color and my contrast is real high but it looks hella good though!! Actually I didnt have to adjust to much of anything on that tv!! they the higher end of the tv u buy the better chance the picture settings are pretty much set for a great picture!! Got Em!!
