1968 was 50 years ago.
That was the year my parents finally let me go to the movies by myself. Sometimes they would go up to the box-office and buy the ticket for me. Some movies I would have to wait a few years to see. I'm disappointed that Bullitt The Party Planet of the Apes Romeo & Juliet Rosemary's Baby did not get 4K restorations and 50th Anniversary editions. Considering the importance of these films, and their immense popularity and influence, it really is an injustice to the art of cinema that the studios paid no attention to the occasion. 2001: A Space Odyssey came late in the year and was problematic, apparently. WB could have done better. The cover art, although not that important, is the kind that discourages sales. |
