Default Advice on quick/simple 2.1 system

Hello,

I'm looking for something that's really cheap/simple and easy to set up. I know that doesn't describe a quality system but currently I'm living w/relatives in a very small room and plan to move out in the near future, so for the meantime, I'm just looking for something with a little kick. Anyone think the following would suffice? And would I need anything extra to go along w/the PS3/TV (I'm pretty clueless)?

http://www.amazon.com/Coby-DVD420-2-1-Channel-Theater-System/dp/B001THBXM2/ref=wl_it_dp?ie=UTF8&coliid=I1MXNUXFVLH33Y&colid=J 7Y255WZGP10

Like I said, just need something modest/temporary for a small room. Thanks.

What's your budget? I'm assuming it to be fairly low since the link is for a $50 set. Personally, I would consider spending a bit more and look at some Energy or Polk bookshelf speakers. You can currently get a lot of bang for the buck on their closeout models. Add in an AA sub at around $165 or so, and you've got a great starter system that can be upgraded later. You can move the bookshelf speakers to surround duty, keep the sub and add towers and a proper center.

Most HTiB setups are going to be 5.1 or 7.1 and be more money- there are options there as well depending on budget.

Thanks for your reply. I would actually opt for one of the ones you suggested but I have very little space and 2 speakers would be perfect (in terms of space). I know it's nowhere near a home theater, but if it's just a notch above the TV's speakers, that would be fine for now.

I mainly want to know if this little set would be compatible w/the PS3 and if there would be any extra cables or anything I'd need. Thanks.

Can anyone tell me if this will work with the PS3 or not?

It says it has a digital input but doesn't say if it's digital coax or optical. You could get a converter box if it's the wrong one, but I'd find out for sure before buying it, personally.
