Default List Your Favourite JAMES BOND....

Hi! to all,

Just interested to hear everyone's favourite Bond, from best to worst and why?

I'll start us off:

Best 1) Moore - I know he's not everyone's favourite, but for me Moore is BOND, simple as that, I grew up with his films and I just like the way Moore plays Bond, I really don't understand why his films get so much stick, films like Live and Let Die, Man with the Golden Gun, Spy Who Loved Me & For Your Eyes Only are all classic Bond films IMO.

2) Dalton - I very nearly put Dalton top of the list, IMO his two films, The Living Daylights & Licence to Kill are two of the best of the entire series and I loved his portrayal as Bond, I personally thought he nailed the part and it's a real shame he only done just the two films.

3) Connery - I like Connery and he will always have the advantage of being the first actor to play Bond, he also starred in one of the the best Bond's ever in Goldfinger, but for me I just prefer Moore & Dalton.

4) Brosnan - I personally think this is where the Bond films stopped feeling like Bond films, out of the four films Brosnan did only Goldeneye was solid the other three he did were mediocre to average at best, I don't think it was that Brosnan himself was a bad Bond but his films were certainly poor.

Worst 5) Craig - I've got nothing against Craig as an actor, he's good as an action actor but I just never feel as though I'm watching Bond when I watch his films, his films just feel like any other action movie, and out of all the actor's to play Bond he's the one actor that just does not look the part, whenever I see him I just don't feel as though he's Bond, something about him just does not fit in my eyes.

NOTE: I have never seen OHMSS from start to finish, so I can't comment on Lazenby, however I did try to watch it once and I could not get into it at all.

So what about the rest of you guys?

Cheers!

JW

I agree with you with Craig; he just doesn't have the sauce to be Bond. However, my favorite has got to be the original Sean Connery. No one will ever stoop up to his level.

Best: Daniel Craig, he re-defined Bond and made the movies better IMO. I like the new gritty-action movies more than the old gadget-driven ones.

Sean Connery was an excellent Bond though.

Moore: I grew up with him. "Octo*****" Don't know why it's not on blu yet. I must be the only one who like it.

Craig: stronger, more violent and modern.

Brosnan: I like him since he played: Le Saint

And still looks like a cold-blooded Nazi that needs a bit sympathy from the audience, but doesn't get any.

#1. Connery - the epitome of what Bond is all about.
#2. Brosnan - fit the action star aspect of the role at that stage of the Bond franchise.
#3. Craig - doing really well with the "origins of Bond" aspect. Can't see him continuing to be any good though if he doesn't start to change the character now that he is more experienced in the field.
#4. Dalton - pretty close to Moore, but at least he seemed to be putting an effort forth with the work.
#5. Moore - he always comes across as not caring, like he was doing it just for the money and prestige.

My favorite is Moore. I tend to watch his films more often and they're just a lot of fun.

The best is a tough call between Dalton and Craig, but I prefer Dalton slightly.

Brosnan and Connery are excellent all around Bond's and Lazenby was fine for his one outing.

Very well said. I like Craig and the new grittier approach to Bond. As for the old bonds, Sean Connery was my favorite.

My favorite is Craig. I like the feel of the new movies, especially without all the (sometimes) cheesy gadgets.

Second would be Sean Connery because he is the original James Bond.

I find it humorous that everyone thinks what Craig is doing is so revolutionary and fresh when Dalton was doing practically the same thing 20 years ago. I love Craig as Bond and all, but you can't mess with the Daltonator!

1. Pierce Bronsnan - He was the Bond I grew up on plus he is in Goldeneye my favourite Bond movie. He has a good balance between intensity and charm as Bond.

2. Sean Connery - He defined what James Bond was as a character and he was the first plus most of his Bond movies are really good unlike the later ones.
.
. (The bottom three can't touch either Brosnan or Connery as James Bond)
.
3. Daniel Craig - I don't like him so much as Bond but after watching CR / QoS, he does a fine job with the character. I just hope that the next one that give Craig chance to play a more playful Bond, not so dark and brooding.

4. Roger Moore - I never was a big fan of his Bond, I know that his portyal is a lot more lighter than Connery's. It pretty much comes down to the fact that most of the movies where he was Bond weren't very good. (In my opinion of course )

I not even going to mention Dalton or Lazenby just because I haven't seen their movies in a long time (probably like ten years) and I don't really remember how good they were as James Bond.

Agree with you that Moore is the best. But can't agree with you about Dalton. He was the worst for me.

My choice :-

1) Moore
2) Craig
3) Connery
4) Brosnan
5) Lazenby
6) Dalton

I would have particularly loved to have seen Moore playing Bond in the Poker match scenes of Casino Royal. His cocky / swarve demure would have made it a legendary scene.

I agree that Dalton played Bond similar to Craig....... but to me the difference
is that Dalton was still a gentleman, Craig is clearly a meaner and ruthless
Bond and like Connery, he really isn't a very nice guy. That's how Bond
should be portrayed.

I think Dalton is still the closest to Fleming's Bond. He's ruthless and vulnerable physically and emotionally. If anything, they might have taken Bond's ruthlessness in the last film a bit to far in that direction where he loses a bit of his charm, but Craig pulls it off well enough for it to be a non-issue.

Never remotely liked any of the other Bonds before his two.
