Default 6.1 and 7.1 down to 5.1???

I have the denon 1909 currently bi amped from 7.1 to 5.1. Does anyone know where the sound goes when playing a 7.1 or 6.1 format movie on a 5.1 receiver. Does some of the sound get lost????

If I'm not mistaken it just gets matrixed into your left and right surrounds.

The sound doesn't get lost, you're just not able to hear it as intended. The effect of 7.1 or 6.1 is lost, the sound is not.

Nothing to worry about right now as not many movies come with a 6.1 or 7.1 soundtrack.
