Default Netflix streaming and Sony BDP-BX1?

Can I use Netflix internet movie streaming on my Sony BDP-BX1? Netflix doesn't note any Sony units as "Netflix ready." Can I do it or do I have to buy one of the "Netflix ready" BlueRay players. Samsung and LG both have one. Thanks for any help.

Nope, no NetFlix streaming. You'd have to look at the LG or some of the newer Samsungs have it as well (3600 maybe?). The BDP-BX1 is a decent unit though. It's the Costco version of the BDP-350.

I have the LG 300, a Samsung 3600 and 2 Roku's which I love the Roku's best and they are only $99 and also stream in Amazon flicks as well. I think Sony will most likely team up with Blockbuster and offer it on the PS3 first since it has a built in HD.

Default What streams to Sony 550?

We recently purchased a Sony 550 under the impression that Netflix would stream movies to it. Netflix now tells us that Sony is offering their own download service so no agreement with Netflix. I can't any info on how to download Sony movies. So far the only thing the CAT5 port has been good for is update the firmware. Does anyone know what media I can download to this machine? From who? At what price? How do you access a website through the 550's menu? Do PSP movies play on this and if so are they at BD resolution for a large screen TV?

Thanks,

Jethro

You cannot stream any movies or content for that matter to the S550. No sony BD Player except for the PS3 is capable of doing this.
