Default Which Sub Shoul I Get ?

This is regards to the 6ave.com "Name your price sale" that going on right now.

Ok I've got a decision to make. I'm currently looking to buy a sub woofer. My current setup is 2 Polk floor standing M70's, Polk CS2, Denon AVR 2809 AVR, 40" Sony Bravia XB4, and 60GB PS3.

I offered $550 for Definitive Technology Super Cube III and they accepted it. My second offer was $175 the Polk Audio PSW 111 sub. Which they also accepted.

Which sub should I get for my setup?

I really like and I'm leaning towards getting that super cube III. But should I just stick with everything Polk audio for my setup ?

If you have the money, buy the Super Cube III. It is a much better subwoofer than the Polk sub.

To my knowledge it is not considered important to match your speakers to your sub (I know I'll be corrected if I am wrong). In fact, there are companies that only make subs and no speakers at all.

KEF makes subs but they were more expensive than my ML Dynamo and I thought the Dynamo sounded better. I could not afford the ML speaker I would have wanted but I like the sub better than the Klipsch and the Velodyne I auditioned with my set.

I have never heard the super cube personally, though I know people speak highly of it. I have also never heard that Polk sub...I have read some people on here who have Polk speakers and opted to go with a "higher end" sub. Some people have SVS, ED, or even HSU research.

If it were me and the money is not a problem, I'd go Supercube.

No, don't stick with a Polk sub, as there is a reason they are known for speakers and not subs....they are primarily a speaker manufacturer and their subs just can't perform to the level the higher end subs do. I love my SVS cylinder sub. The look and performance is uncompared. It has a smaller footprint than box subs, is aesthetically appealing, and all without sacrificing any of the bass you would expect. I just think if you want to add the same performance that a high end sub can do with a look that only a cylinder sub can provide, it has to be an SVS sub. It is 3 feet tall, weighs 60 lbs, has a 325 watt amp, and gets down to 18Hz-20hz, and consider this is the smallest of the cylinder subs they produce. That's my 2 cents....
