Sarah is Buffy (except that one time she wasn't [she was Faith pretending to be Buffy]).

I don't understand why they just don't introduce a new slayer. There was a lot of them at the end of the Buffy TV series.

That absolutely makes no sense to me, why would they do that? I never really watched it except for a couple of episodes when my great uncle was on it, but I still don't think she should be replaced.

Sounds to me like they'd just be trying to capitalize on Megan Fox's current popularity to bolster the show. I'm no fan by any means, but having seen the movie with Kristy Swanson, I think Buffy should remain a blonde.

Ugh. I'm a huge Buffy fan (hence the SMG icon). As most die hard cult fans, who are, afterall, responsible for the sheer success of the television show (the movie tanked, obviously), I'm not very keen on a 'remake.' Maybe 20 years from now, but it's still too soon.

I actually kind of like Megan Fox because she seems actually intelligent in interviews (more than just a pretty face) and she has a wicked sense of humor, but if she accepts an offer to play Buffy, I will do what Megatron failed to do!

I have doubts that this will be successfull; without SMG and without Josh Whedon. The show had a huge cult following for a reason and that was it's success. Changing the formula is not going to work.

I like the idea of Megan Fox being a vampire slayer and maybe in the same universe as Buffy but to be Buffy...? I'll say maybe and wait for more details.

I see her on IMDb.com's news section a lot. She's sitting on a really high horse when she talks about a lot of other celebs.

Isn't that for a movie?

If that's the case, she wouldn't be replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar... she'd be replacing Kristy Swanson.

Haven't read through the thread to see if anyone has said, but this has been debunked.

I am so over Megan Fox.

It's a reboot. She wouldn't be replacing anyone.

Exactly. They're trying to cash in on the rabid cult fanbase of the television show since it was very successful yet that very same cult fanbase is pissed at the reboot announcement. I think it'll definitely fail.

Obviously, if they were to announce this 20 years in the future, I wouldn't really have much of a problem with it. But the tv show ended in 2003, and technically both Whedon and Gellar could still sign off on a movie version if both could agree to return. Sarah didn't originate Buffy but to millions of fans, she IS the definitive Buffy.

The Kuzuis have been very greedy. They were listed as executive producers of the television series despite not ever having worked on it. I'm sure they get a percentage of the dvd/merchandising/syndication cut but apparently it isn't enough.

Exactly. Simply call it 'The Slayer' and keep it in the same Buffyverse timeline yet focus on a different Slayer. But they want to cash in on the Buffy name somehow thinking that the rabid fanbase is going to really love a movie with the Buffy character yet no Willow, Xander, Giles, or any of the rest of the support ensemble cast that made the show so great and leagues above the original movie.

Yeah I'm the biggest Buffy fan I know and there's no way I'm going to be seeing this movie, even with Meg Fox headlining it.
