Ok I have to ask what's so special about Steelbooks? What makes them popular?

Is that why when I get them they're always dinged up and hollow like they've been used and abused?

Personally I'd rather just get the standard versions.

I have yet to buy a steelbook and don't think that I ever will. As I've stated in numerous other threads, I am digging the uniform look of my movies. It looks pretty sharp having them all nice and even on the shelf. Well other then the wretched Dirty Harry. Ugh, I want to throw the packaging away and put it in regular cases.

I still don't get the craze - most people here have them sealed and put away as collector's items, and will never see the movie in them. They cost more, you usually have to import them - someone throw me a bone here, what's the allure? I know J.B. deals in em, as the "middleman."

HA! See what I did here guys? I used the search function - almost made my own thread, but Tommy had the right idea.

I don't understand why it's so hard to understand. It's a collecting thing, plain and simple. I like them 'cos the artwork is painted on the metal, there is often artwork inside, and they just look cool and different to me. I actually open mine to enjoy the film as well. I told myself I didn't want the region locked ones, but I'll probably get some if it's a movie I really like, and I'll wait for a cheap price for the region A blu-ray version to put it in the case. I like them, but not enough to pay triple digits for them. I've also paid less for a blu-ray sb than a new blu-ray release of the same film; it doesn't always happen, but sometimes you can get lucky.

I understand the whole sealed aspect of collecting them as well, but I don't keep 'em sealed unless it's an extra for trade bait.

I also like the digibooks, but I'm only going to get the movies I like.

Variety is the spice of life.

they're different, they look cool, alot are limited, or have limited runs or exclusive to certain stores around the world which can make them more sought after and more valuable in any eye of a blu-ray steelbook beholder.

Lots of people havent converted to blu, and many of those people are limited edition collectors and dvd steelbook collectors .... so blu-ray steels will only grow making all these titles out now worth more in a year or so ... damn near a nice investment haha.

a simple search for those type of forums can bring you alot of diff collectors that will eventually plunge blu.
