Heh. I don't think many of us on this web site will need it, but there are some guys who don't have very durable discs. www.thelookandsoundofperfect.com is thataway ------>

Thanks for the response-maybe I should be on the other board but I really think Blu-ray will ultimately win out. Plus, the Butler doesn't just protect discs it keeps dust off them as well and I would imagine that even Blu-ray discs collect dust-don't they? And since we're on the durability issue just how durable are Blu-ray discs? Are they really more durable than HD-DVDs and regular DVDs? Again thanks for your response.

Yeah, I think most of us would prefer to keep our babies in their blue holders. Now if the Butler held those?

I'd sell it for the computer. It will not work well for movies. The disc goes from the carrier to the player and back to the carrier.
It may work for games but after paying 60 bucks I would tell Jane and Johnny to keep them in the carrier or else they don't get any more. Yes Blu-Ray is far more durable, scratches are not an issue. Getting dust on discs which then go into the machine is to be avoided that is why we use the carriers. Do you think we want to keep 3 movies out so we can put them in again right away? Doesn't make sense. |

Well there is no question that the safest thing to do is to put the disc back in the carrier immediately. But do we all always find the time to do this? Have you ever been in a situation where you need to temporarily put the disc down and rather than put it back in its carrier you simply lay it down flat on a table or something? Wouldn't it be better and safter to drop your $60 disc in something like the $2 Butler? And what about burned blu-ray discs? Soon we'll be burning Blu-ray discs on a regular basis. At least that's my belief. Wouldn't it be nice to have a simple easy holder like the Butler to put the discs in, at least until you find the time to put them in a carrier.

They won't get dirty and won't collect dust because the Butler holds the discs in an upright position. I've had discs held in the Butler for over a year in my dusty garage and the discs didn't collect any dust. The surface of the disc is simply too smooth to collect dust. It's hard to believe but its true.
