Default Higher Grossing Domestic/Worldwide Transformers 2 or Harry Potter 6?

Transformers 2 has probably surpassed $600 worldwide by today. In just 8 days, Harry Potter 6 comes out (I'm pretty amped or geeked out, depending on the crowd).

Though it seems unlikely, when all is said and done, do you think Harry Potter 6 will out perform Transformers 2?

I'll list the poll in two parts: Domestic and Worldwide...

I find box-office grosses interesting though they don't directly affect me.

Enjoy.

Hard to call, the last few HP movies were a little under what some of the first movies did in box office I think, still this one as been a long time coming and it does look very good. The major difference will be how many times the fans will go see it, once, twice, three?? That is something to consider. I think it will not beat Transformers domesticaly but might do better on international market.

From Movieweb.com:

The sixth Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, opens next week (on Wednesday, July 15) - but the film already represents 61% of daily ticket sales on Fandango, the nation's leading moviegoer destination.

Advance ticket sales for the new Potter movie are outpacing advance sales for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the fifth Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, at the same point in those films' sales cycles (eight days before release date).

According to an ongoing Fandango survey of more than 3,000 moviegoers planning to see Harry Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince:

- 85% of respondents have read all seven of the Potter books.
- 84% would be interested in visiting Potter locations from the new film.
- 80% would buy a ticket to a Daniel Radcliffe movie in which he doesn't play Harry Potter.
- 73% are fine with the fact that the last Potter story will be split into two separate movies.

"Harry continues to be 'The Chosen One', especially among movie fans," says Rick Butler, Chief Operating Officer for Fandango. "The Half-Blood Prince is turning out to be one of our fastest-selling titles of the year, and has consistently been a top-seller ever since tickets went on sale on June 17."

Looks like Harry Potter is winning at this point, but it's still early.

Domestic: Transformers 2, since the highest grossing Potter movie is around $320 million (first movie)...the new HP will maybe reach $350 million domestic(tops). Worldwide: Harry Potter will take it.

+1,
Idon't know if it will take TF2 worldwide but I do think the last Harry Potter movie will be the 2nd biggest of all time. I think Titanic will be #1 for many years to come.

Edit: I also believe that all Harry Potter films together are the best series of movies ever made. Even the weakest HP film is far better than most hollywood films. JMO

Harry Potter 6 will obviously outgross Transformers 2, since it has a wider fanbase, compared to the Twilight saga. Plus, people favor a lot of Harry Potter films and books, so...

I'm hoping Harry, cause I'd like to think the rest of the world isn't so gullable to Transformers 2 ineptness as most of America has.

Thanks for backing me up.

I am hoping HP6 beats it, but it's hard to not be impressed with how well Transformers has done in such little time.

TF2 will win both. There are too many haplessly misguided souls out there out there arguing that TF2 is a good film.

HP6 will take both. I love transformers a lot but HP has a much larger fan base IMO. HP fans range from little kids to old adults where transformers fans are more around teenagers to young adults. Of course there are always exceptions, so don't tell me that your 10yr/o brother hates HP and your 65yr old grandpa loves transformers.

Poll is useless since you can't vote for the 2 options.

TF2 domestic
HP6 worldwide

You can or can't?

Either way, I realized only after that I should have allowed for multiple votes. It's been awhile since I started a poll.
