United Kingdom 3-D on Blu-Ray.......... Any titles worth looking at?

I was looking at the Coraline pre-order (12-Oct for UK release) and was wondering if the 3D version would be any good?

Has anybody bought any other releases with a 3D version (Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Bloody Valentine, Polar Express etc) and what was your opinion on the 3D?

I've always been a little disappointed when watching 3D on DVD and was wondering if it looks any better on Blu-ray.

The only release of Coraline on BD includes both 3-D and traditional versions. There is no choice of a "3D version" or not here.

I haven't seen it myself yet (probably will this morning when I get home from work), but a lot of people have said that it's not very good. A curiosity more than a legitimate presentation of the film, but that can be said of any home video 3D presentation, I'd say. The coloration of the anaglyph just throws things off too much spectrally. Word on the street is that My Bloody Valentine 3D has the best home video presentation of 3D, but it's still a big fish in a little pond: anaglyph can't come close to comparing to the polarized light technology they use in the cinema to deliver quality 3D without affecting the color display.

And yeah, it does look better than DVD. It is more highly resolved, so the picture will appear more clear, more "in focus", moire "sharp". I can't say for certain due to lack of experience or statistics, but I'd also wager that the more accurate color display alloted by BD would also help the color side of things. It certainly doesn't hurt.

Do you need to adjust your colour settings when you select the 3D version? If so, what do you change for the best result?

Matt
