Image Retention on my Samsung LCD?

Hey all. I've been having a problem with my TV the past month or two. It first began mostly on weekends, giving me trouble after being on for most of the day.

It must have something to do with getting hotter and hotter, because the picture was fine during the first several hours of use. Then, after being on most of the day (say 10 hours or so), I started seeing where the black bars would be. Watching 1.78 or 1.85:1 content, I was able to discern where the black bars were because a few inches of screen (both top & bottom) were tinted greenish-yellow. Depending on the image, the problem ranged in severity - blacks, in particular, develop an ugly tint of green at the top and bottom of my screen. Blue skies also look terrible. It is extremely distracting and ruins the viewing experience.

Presently, it only takes 3 or 4 hours for this to happen. It makes watching 1.78/1.85:1 blu-rays or HD television aggravating. The issue is only getting worse over time.

The TV is a Samsung LN-T4061F 40" LCD. I've had it since Jan. '08 and it gets plenty of use.

Is the TV destined for the junkyard or is there something I can do?

Eventhough its been over a year since you bought it , I would still call Samsung and see what options they can give you? Also see if there is anything about that model having a known problem of any sorts???

i have never heard of IR on LCD before. I have heard of and have seen Burn In on an LCD before though. I would think that there is an obvious issue with the panel. Def give Samsung a call and see what they say.

Call Samsung but--

I think nowadays it's a good idea to get a Square Trade on Samsungs especially plasma in general.

It's definitely an LCD model....

That sounds like a plasma not an LCD being an LN model. Is it a Plasma? If so, then it's the dreaded plasma burn it that will never get better. Call Samsung but.

Dude, your Samsung 46B750 is an LN model LCD! I have the LN52B750 and it is DEFINITELY an LCD.

My bad of course PN is plasma. I didn't get a lot of sleep.

Anyway seems like Samsung 7's are the best. I haven't had any issues with the 750 only had it about a month. Seems like some Samsung LCDs act up about after a year from what I've read. Anyway good luck.

Fortunately, I've not experienced IR on my Sammy LCD, but my Apple LCD display that I've had for about 3 years has just started with the IR. It's pretty annoying.
