Default Denon to make Hi Def players

Denon go blu?

"until we make an announcement maybe as soon as this July at an event we're going to have in New Jersey where we're going to announce our intentions of next generation high definition players of some type — or both — we don't know, but we'll make that announcement then. "

It would be poor judgement at this point for them to jump in with an HD-DVD player. I could understand if they were thinking about it before the respective formats launched, but right now it's pretty much over except for the crying

A year ago (about) Denon said that they would not make a Hi Def player until the war was over. That says it all.

We just had a Denon training here at the store I work at for the new AVR-3808 and 4308 model receivers (very cool by the way), and our rep says that they are quietly alligned with Blu-Ray, and Denon as a company decided to wait and see for awhile and stick to standard DVD. He says plans are, if things keep up the way they are, Denon will have a BD player out sometime next year.

My insider contacts say Denon will announce a Blu-ray player later this year.

But, they won't announce a darn thing until they have something special that is ready to go.

If their high end DVD players are anything to go by, I bet if they made a Blu Ray player it would be unbelievable. Can you imagine uncompressed audio using 196/24 Burr Brown D/A converters? That would be sweet.

They of course are fitted with HDMI 1.3, they have ethernet ports for networking from a PC, they've improved the Audyssey calibraion system, the 3808 will have 3 HDMIs, the 4308 will have 4. Both will upconvert any source plugged into it to 1080p. It was cool to see the TrueHD and DTS HD Master logos on the front. Next we have a training with Pioneer Elite and will learn about their new receivers and their new 1080p Plasma models.

Please tell us about the Pioneer Elite receivers whenever you get a chance.
I currently own a Pio Elite VSX-52TX and would love to upgrade it soon.

I bet Denon releases a Blu-ray player this fall, to go along withtheir new line up of AVR's.

So denon blu ray
WHAT ABOUT MARANTZ?
isn't marantz and denon owned by the same company, so if denon goes blu, so will marantz? i hope so, we need another top line player besides pioneer elite, they can't match marantz

I expect Denon are waiting for profile 1.1/2.0. That way they release a full featured player with no risk of it been considerd an out dated model.
This makes good sense on there part due to the price they will most likly charge being highish.

What a great addition to Blu Ray this would make, and im in no doubt that it will help a few jump into the blu ray camp.

look forward to there press release.

Both Pioneer ELITE & Denon make some CRAZY awesome disc players ... I've owned many ELITE products, and a few Denon, I'm excited to see what they're coming up with next. Although I will say Panasonic's plasma success (I'll be buying my second this year) as well as their BD success, is making me want one of their new players REALLY badly ...
