Default Disney blu rays

I personally think that Disney does the best blu rays, the quality of the picture is amazing and the amount of special features is great.

I was think of some of the movies that should come to Blu ray

1. Mulan
2. Jungle Book
3. Incredibles
4. Peter Pan
5. Lion King 1/2/3

I didn't know some of these were out on bluray. I think the only Disney bluray's I'd get would be Lion King, the Aladdin Trilogy, and Hercules...maybe Mulan. Those were pretty much my favorites.

Hercules still needs a better DVD release. It's current release is still the Gold Collection release that's non-anamorphic. It might be awhile before it makes it to Blu.

As for the other titles, The Lion King will probably come to Blu in 2011, Aladdin is rumored for February, and Mulan will probably come to Blu in a wave of non-Diamond animated titles.

Hi! to all,

I may be in the minority on this one, but personally I'd love to see a full blown special edition Blu-ray for "Return to Oz"

I have the basic Disney R1 DVD at the moment, but IMO the film deserves much better and is highly underrated, I've liked it ever since I saw it at the cinema when it was origianlly released.

Cheers!
JW

Disney is working on an new version of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea so I would believe that they will probably release that disc when the new move comes to theaters. I'm not sure if there is a solid date when that will be out but I do know that there is a script rewrite in the works right now.

The orginal classic 20,000 Leagues will always be the best one IMO. This was the most expensive film made at the time and Kirk Douglas even sings in it! I'm sure the remake will hvae oodles of CGI, but it just won't be the same!

I'd like to see Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King. Oh, and all unreleased Pixar titles too.

Dammit, I just want to Cinderella come to blu! Well that and Fantasia, too.

I mean how hard can it be for Disney?? They already ran through Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Pinocchio...what is taking so long for them to put Cinderella on blu?? I love Disney to death in terms of the quality they put into releasing their classics, but the snail's pace that which they go about it drives me insane.

Well, Cinderella was last released about four years ago, so I'd imagine they're getting around to titles that haven't been released in a longer span of time -- like Fantasia next March and Beauty and the Beast next Fall.

Some of the Platinum Edition releases that have come out on DVD in recent years look awfully good upconverted. Some of these releases were reworked with more detail to show on the IMAX screen and the quality is great. I'm not saying they are as good as a blu-ray would look, but much better than many DVD upconversions. Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Lion King all look good enough to satisfy me for now while they release others such as Monster Inc., and The Incredibles.
The old question - will we ever see Song of the South released again?
