Mr. Sunshine Starring Matthew Perry

Thought I'd make a thread for this since it premieres tonight. Looking forward to it, I like Matthew Perry quite a bit and Friends is still one of my favorite TV sitcoms. I like Allison Janney quite a bit as well, so I have hopes for this show!

It was ok, I didn't pay full attention since the atmosphere of the show felt like Cougar Town

But the scene where Crystal (Allison Janney) went to go take a picture with the little kids and the clowns walked in with axes was hilarious. She picked up the kid as a shield, threw him and ran

I like Matthew Perry but I think I'd watch this show for Allison Janney instead

Just watched it and enjoyed it quite a bit. It has a lot of potential to be a great series. The cast worked well together, and I'll definitely be tuning in next week to see how it holds up. I really want to believe that this'll do well and that'll last a few seasons. It's a good comedy and I greatly look forward to the next episode.

Watched the pilot last night, didn't really love or hate it. It's got a ton of familiar faces since all of the main characters have been on past TV shows. I'll keep watching it before I form a solid opinion because it has room to grow. Hopefully Jorge Garcia plays a bigger role in the future.

I've yet to watch the pilot, as I wanted to see how the ratings where before I bothered with it. I didn't want to like another new show only to have atrocious ratings and it's immediate cancellation. Well the numbers are in for week 1, and are a lot better than I expected them to be, that's for sure. But I may still wait to see how the second week performs before I jump on the bandwagon. I enjoy Cougar Town, however it's definitely nothing I couldn't live without, or be upset by it's cancellation, if this is a better show. Time and ratings will tell.

Specifically, Mr. Sunshine drew 10.57 million total viewers and a 3.7 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo, improving on Cougar Town‘s season-to-date average by 32 percent.

More superlatives: Sunshine‘s demos were up 9 percent from Cougar Town‘s own series premiere, it gave ABC its best Wednesdays-at-9:30 numbers in 16 months, and it also marked the Alphabet network’s strongest scripted midseason debut since March 2007.

Of course the real test, as with any new series, comes when folks decide whether to show for Week 2.

I watched the premier last night…..didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it either.

I’ll have to watch next week again to make a decision.

Cougar Town has already been renewed for next season. I would guess if Mr. Sunshine turns out to be a hit Better With You will be canceled and either Sunshine or Cougar Town will take it's spot. It's also possible ABC could go with an all comedy night if Happy Endings, which premieres in April, turns out to be a hit, or they could move 2 comedies to another night.

Oh it has? Well that must have slipped my mind, I kept hearing if Sunshine was good they would cancel Cougar Town. Thought it was kind of funny one Friend might end another Friends' show, lol.

That part was awesome! I was cracking up when that happened.

Overall the show wasn't bad, but not great. I'll probably still check it out at least a few more times.

I did like the (very, very brief) theme song that they had... "Mr. Sunshine.... yay...." Just how it goes from upbeat to 'blah' was funny.

I was very very surprised to have laughed as much as I did. Watching his boss defend herself from the clowns with axes with a small child and than just throwing him on the ground had me rolling. I was like hell yeah I hate clowns I'd use a child shield too!

I thought it was okay. However, the 3 mins trailer that ABC released months ago seems to have covered alot of the funniest moments of the episode. I kind of wished I didn't see it. I liked Perry and thought he had good chemistry with Lesure and Anders.

The thing I found funny about Andrea Anders character was how similar it was to Linda on Better off Ted.

That's how I felt, I saw that trailer during Upfronts last May and still remembered them for the most part. I was surprised there didn't seem to be any changes at all over the past 8 or 9 months.
