Default Need help and advice

I'm building a home theater in my basement in a room of 14 x 14, the room will be dark, now my question is should I go with LCD 50è and more, Plasma 58"panny or a projector??

Having in mind my room, and the fact that I only have 3000$ to spend what should I do

Assuming that you already have audio, or audio will be a seperate budget, then front project is the way to go.

OK but I have a tight budget 3000$ Canadian and I live in Canada. I will also need a screen with that right?? so maybe a 106" would be enough, what are your suggestions?

You'll want to check w/ one of the Canadians on here. I don't know enough about the exchange rate and what you guys can and can't import to give good advice.

I got a Panasonic PT-AE3000U ($2399) and 120" screen ($1000) that I love, but this projector would look awesome on a less expensive screen.

If I recall correctly here in Canada the same projector, the Panny PT-AE3000U is around 4000$ and I can have a 106' screen(probably not a top brand) for 600$

Front Projection would be the most worth it. If you cannot exceed $3000, there are plenty of very respectable 720p projectors that will still look stunning in a dark room - and you will have plenty left for your sound.

Most projectors are capable of 100-110" screens with a 12-13 foot throw distance...... so he'd have the room to throw the image, and I'm guessing the seating would be 10' or so.... so it'd be perfect as far as I'm concerned......

The fact that projectors are apparently much more expensive in Canada doesn't help matters though.... and I don't know much about what's offered and at what price in the great white north.

It appears you'd probably need $4k to get a 1080p unit there..... so I guess your choices would be....

1) increase the budget

2) get a very nice 720p within the budget

3) get a nice entry level 720p and only spend $2k and have some change left over

4) Get the plasma

I have 2 LCDs and a projector..... and if I were to buy a "TV" it'd be a plasma. I think they look MUCH nicer.... I have an Aquos and a Samsung.... so I'm not giving an overly biased opinion based on what I have..... just telling you the way I see it.

My projector doesn't have the image quality of a Kuro, but I wouldn't sacrifice the totally captivating experience of viewing Blu-rays and DVDs on my 106" screen.....
