Unhappy I've got the blu-ray blues.

No, it isn't the fact that the movies I want most are not out yet. Nor is it the fact that the movies I wanted most and now own have lost their appeal. It is just sheer pleasure overload.

My first beloved player, the Sony BDP-S300 (the Tank), still sits at the center of the main HDTV. Yeah, it takes 45 seconds to turn on. Sure, even with firmware tweaks some newer movies still take forever to load. But that was part of the appeal - the anticipation. I could only watch blu-ray THERE.

Now that I have a Panasonic BD35 in my bedroom, the glory of owning a blu-ray player just isn't the same. Sure, I am enjoying more blu-rays in the privacy of my room, but it simply isn't the Holy Grail of entertainment like it used to be. Even though the BD35 is much faster.

Used to be I had to wait for the house to quite down, make my popcorn and hopefully watch the whole movie without so much as a "boo". Now, I watch from the comfort of my bed and I'm falling asleep watching the original Star Trek movies, and even Coraline last night.

Sigh. Anyone else feel the same?

LOL kinda know what you mean... I guess when Blu Ray first came out, it was something so different and special and now that it's been out for a couple years its become more standard and less unique?

I think you are taking home video far too seriously.

Take a walk or something...

You have no surround system? No wonder it's lost the appeal. Audio is as important as the video presentation. I couldn't imagine not having a good sound system.

The placement of the TV's really makes it difficult to install a surround sound system. I can't turn the house upside down just to have surround sound. At least not yet.

I just don't understand your point. When you REALLY want to watch something, do it with your main system. Unless of course you are falling asleep there as well then you indeed may have the BD blues!

Speed is an issue? Then switch your players!

I WISH I had the money and time to enjoy this even better more than having any BD blues issues to begin with! Perhaps you may indeed be on overload. Watch a ballgame!

If you can't make room for audio, or move the t.v. to accommodate it...... you're not trying hard enough.

I have had blu now since the summer after the PS3 was released (I don't remember, either 2006 or '07). I am just now making it around to experiencing my own home audio set up. I LOVE IT!! However, I have been contemplating getting a blu-ray player for our bedroom, but after hearing this I will definitely be thinking twice. I will keep this as a note in the back of my mind, that things like this can be abused and stretched beyond it's bounds of pleasure.

Wife and I still have a DVD/VCR player in our bedroom; hooked into our LG HDTV. It looks like absolute shit, but looks like we'll be enduring that for a while.

Time to get outside, take a hike, go fishing, do something else....then come back to it.

If you really want to feel like blu's are special, just watch and old warner snapper case DVD and you'll feel better

Geeze, what a can of worms I opened.

The Sony S300 is connected to my 34" Sony HD tube set. The room is a living room / dining room combo. The system sits opposite of the kitchen. It is the ONLY place it can go on the ground floor.

Air borne cooking particles migrate over to that side of the room. So I am not about to put anything new downstairs opposite the kitchen. Upstairs is another story.

Talk about ventilation all you want, some people just won't turn it on, nor open the door. It's an argument that falls on deaf ears. So I simply don't put new stuff in the common area any more. I'll have it eventually, just not soon.

This could be the remedy! But seriously. I completely see now that there is a spoiling point (no pun intended).
