Default Thread titles that I never want to see again

no offense intended to those who have posted topics related to what I say below. I try not to be one of the bitter members on here but in the last week there have been to many repeat posts.

I will be happy if I never see another thread with these words in the title:

star wars
lord of the rings
star trek
lost on bluray?
amazon BDs 42% off!
batman begins
harry potter
walmart blablablablabla

this thread may not have a point to most but come on. its not just newbies either.

aaaahhhhh I feel better. who wants hug?

any other threads you cringe when you see?

oh wait.....I know the ''i hate these repeat threads'' threads. I hate those too.

Don't forget "Matrix on BD?"

Same thing here: No offense, but every day I see a few about titles which have been discussed. I try to answer as many as I can w/ "use the search feature," but I think that when you choose to submit a new thread, before you can submit, you should be asked if you have in fact searched.

well my friend no offense taken but in the world we live in and internet being so widespread and this site being discovered by new individuals everyday your request will likely go unheard. Although i am a newbie to the site you wont hear those thread titles from me again. Apologies for the redundencies. Goodday mate!

This is one of those threads built to ignore.

If I had one it would be: black bars

for me depends on what it is if you look on the latest posts and see something that says harry potter and then you go and post something about harry potter that to me is alittle bothersome but who cares it wont even matter in like 45 minutes when it sinks down and out ... overall who really cares

ahh now i've had some sleep.

hey I said ''no offense'' that means no one is supposed to get offended.

what I would like to see is when you click the ''submit new thread'' button that a little blu ray symbol with eyes (similar to the microsoft paperclip for word) would pop up and have a little thought bubble asking ''have you used the search function? someone may have already asked the same question.'' I don't know if that's possible.

one point I was trying to make that was actually going to be constructive was that the more the threads pop up and simply get ignored the harder it becomes to find the actual thread where it was discussed at length.

I by no means intend to bully new members or drive people away. in fact I was being pretty sarcastic and attempted to lay it on really thick at the end. since this topic comes up about once a month.

maybe having a ''most popular subjects'' sticky thread, with links to the most extensive threads on each subject, in each section would make it less prevelant.

see a good idea can come out of a rant.

seriously though I was trying to be more funny then mean.

As much as I get tired of seeing the same old threads every week, I realize that newcomers haven't seen the same discussions we have week in and week out. I've wondered if we might be better off with a forum dedicated to movies that haven't been released with each title having a stickied thread. Newcomers could speculate all they want without cluttering up the general movie discussion list.

Perhaps we might be better off with a forum only members with 25+ posts can see where the seasoned posters can discuss without the newcomer clutter? We certainly want to welcome and encourage new members but the same subjects get very tedious after a while.

that's what I said. sticky a thread that just shows the most popular topics as the first thing a person sees in a category.

I think that would cut back on ''where's spiderman?''

''what's the difference between hd dvd and bd?''

I can't imagine why people complain about ''the black bars'' I thought my dad was the last person alive who didn't understand that you won't get the whole picture for a lot of movies if you trim it to fill the screen.

my thread i never want to see again is, 'Is this True?????" Then inside the thread it goes something like this, "i was reading over on this one site, avs.com, that blu-ray can't do PiP and HD DVD can, this has gotta be a big blow."

For me:

Matrix
Star Wars (since certain Fanboys seem to keep making things up, wishing that they'd be released on Blu-Ray)

But the 2 biggest ones:

BLACK BARS and WIDESCREEN complaints. Why do these people even have Blu-Ray players?

I don't mind any of those IF IT IS ACTUALLY ANNOUNCED.

But I too am tired of the posts by members with fewer than 10 posts asking:

"Is (Insert popular movie here) comming to Blu-ray soon?"

It's annoying, I sOoOo wan't to say "SEARCH NEWB!!"

In HDDVD forums the most annoying threads are:
- Why won't my HDDVD disc play in my DVD player?
- When will (insert any disney movie here) come out on HDDVD?
- I know where you can get a player for $45!!
- What's Blu-ray?
- Learn to cope with denial.

I agree with all y'all. I don't post much, but I check the site two or three times a a day and I am tired of all the LotR and Matrix threads.

Being a naturally caustic person, I have to bite my tongue (or, in this case, hold my fingers) to keep from posting my personal views. ("NO, nobody here wants to see LotR on bluray", "Yeah, the Matrix was one of the first blurays released, haven't you seen it at Best Buy?")

I try to keep smiling (now adays it's a grimace) when I see another movie thread.

I was thinking more along the lines of a separate forum with one thread per movie and keep it just for speculation. When a movie is announced, that title's thread can be moved out of the speculation forum.

I hate forums where you have to go down half a page just to see non-sticky posts. *cough*...avs...*cough*
