Default Blu-ray not ready for prime time

I went through 78's, 45's, lp's, 8 track beta/vhs cd'd dvd's and laser disks.

I Was going to hold off on blu rays, but finally gave in. No doubt that the images are better with the right source.

Could not believe the long load times, poor searches, poor control........(do a rewind to rewatch some footage and then play it back and it would reboot and start at the begining of the moves......... had to dn load updates to play certain disks, on and on.........(Sony 300).......then a got a Pano bd35........slightly better load time......some times pause a movie and it will re boot when I presss play.......no subtitle button. Still like using a 10 year old computer to operate..........like a dvd player running at sloooow motion, or better yet like a vhs player.

Looking at getting a new ..........(only if better)........player...........the Sony S360 seems to load pretty fast, has a subtitle button, but no open/close tray button, ys gotta wonder.

3 years into many new units and they are still trying to get it right.

Anyone know of a player that is really up to speed.???

Jack

But seriously, folks. We like to help.

Run down a list of the metrics you'd like the player to meet, what your budget is and what other components you'll be connecting to, and I'm sure you'll get a ton of advice.

Welcome aboard!

Going to have to go with the PS3. Been solid and fast load times from the start. I'm sure dvd players had their problems first couple years. Most of the new players coming out have decent/fast load times. Growing pains and it will only get better.

If he doesn't want a PS3 there are still other good options.....

and as far as DVD players, the one I bought in 97/98 still works great.

Thanks for the replys..........No budget.......want a subtitle button, tray open/close button, fast load.........and..........it respondes to the play, ff, pause buttons, like it should and will remember to restart a movie that you take out and put bac n later........(like all my dvd player do).........thats about it. I am "pretty" sure the image/sound quality if is a given at this point in time.

I think the new OPPO would be a good one..... not positive about the ability to start from the last stopping point..... you may need to do some digging on that one. I hear it loads very fast though.

Because of the way Java encoded BD's work, you will need to use the bookmark feature in order to resume where last played. It's not a limitation of the player but the discs themselves.

That is my understanding. I usually have no need to use this feature. In the rare occasion, I need to stop a movie, power down my system, and then go back to continue watching the movie, I usually just use the scene selection and start the movie that way.

To be honest, I didn't even know DVD players had that feature. That is how rare I need to resume movies.

Are F&CKING serious? How old are you? 78rpm records? I have a sinking feeling you are here just to cause trouble.

That other format was necessarily a speed demon either.

Mine will remember up to 6 dvd's and restart any of them when reinserted.

I am sure blu ray will slowly ad features to keep new sales going as time goes on..........
