Welcome to the Galleries Nando820,
Nice looking room you have there. Don't sell your equipment short. You have a wonderful display, a couple of good sources, a more than adequate receiver, and 7.1 speakers. The speaker placements have me a little perplexed. Are the fronts on the stands or on the floor? out in the living room and don't worry, now that you are here you will have severe upgraditus soon enough.

Actually and I know I'm gonna get screamed at but I have them connected in parallel.... originally I only had the Onkyos on the stand but then I found the Yamahas so I connected them together.... The plan is to upgrade them to just one speaker the Polk Tsi200 cause I heard them on the store and they sound awesome and also my central is already a Polk csi3.

Question I need to get another subwoofer for my downstairs system (which is an Onkyo) would it be smart to get me a Polk subwoofer for this setup and move my subwoofer downstairs? Does having the same brand of speakers matter?

Nando,
That's one way to do it but in your case I would use the speakers on the stand as "Presence" speakers, , see your manual for much more info. This will be better for your receiver and allow you to change sound fields to match what you are watching. You can also use "Dialog Lift" to lift the center channel to the same level as your TV. As for your other question brand matching goes out the window with subs so listen to some and pick the one that suits your needs and budget. Good luck.

Thank you Bguzman! I think you are right the receiver has the outputs for presence speakers might as well use them and have the ability to change between different sound fields Thank You

Don't forget to rerun YPAO after you hook up the "presence" speakers. These auto-cal systems can work wonders in a living room.
