Unhappy onkyo 806 issue

everytime i turn on my 806 i only get sound from my subwoofer.

i go to ;level calibration' (pink noise) and NOTHING comes out of any of the other speakers.

i have to cycle my 806 on/off and after 2 times or so a few more speakers will turn on.
i go to level calibration and see some speakers output pink noise and some dont.

after i cycle my 806 on/off 3-4 more times then all the speakers are on (verified thru level calibration)

well i just reset my receiver per the 806 manual and hopefully that works

does anyone know what causes this problem and/or a fix?

i havent touched any connection in months.
the sound doesnt come in and out, the sound doesnt output at all unless i cycle the 806 on/off a few times.

I'd try doing the total reset and then not changing anything, and then see what happens.

Don, let us know if it happens again now that you have reset the unit. sorry to hear it happened even once, but, sometimes it happens once and doesn't happen again. lets hope this just a cpu brain fart.

i will tell you this, the last time i had seen anything like that happen was i have my amp connected to a dedicated line conditioner because it's a power hog and it was way too big for my existing UPS. one time while watching a movie the power dipped real low for a while all the lights in my place were dimmed more than half way with voltage that low for a while the line conditioner shut itself down to protect the amp. well, the rest of my stuff is on on a UPS, including my receiver (which i use as a pre/pro) well exactly what you said was happening in that i got sound through my sub. once i reset the line conditioner that takes care of the amp, everything was back to normal. damn power company! i know, only slightly related and i only brought it up because i don't know how your stuff is hooked up.

I'll go ahead and gather this has never happened before and was everything alright powerwise in the house? again, let us know if it happens again now that you reset it.

hoping for the best don, keep us posted.

I would pull all the speaker wiring out, check the terminations and the cables and then try it again. Chances are though that there's something wrong with the receiver- potentially the amp portion since the only thing that works is the sub out.

well if thats the case.....how come when i turn off then on the receiver some other speakers turn on.

tghen when i turn off then on again more speakers may turn on?

doesnt sound like a speaker connection at all

i reset the receiver and wont touch a setting until tomorrow when i fire up the 806 after work.

onkyo told me they want me to shio it to an authorized service center if it needs to be fixed.
i told them NO WAY....i want to ship it directly to onkyo.
