This is true in my Country too:

PS3 is $600 whereas WII is $419 BUT PS3 is a better Option and already Virgin Megastore have BD movies and PS3 Games

On the Otherhand, XBOX360 is collecting dust.

Believe me PS3 got a well reputation everyday and especially we have a lot of PS2 Fans, i can give you a hint PS3 is well selling upon.

The 360 will become the next Dreamcast, and the Wii will become the Gamecube which it already is pretty much a recycled gamecube. PS3 ftw. 2008 to 2009 will be when the PS3 takes over IMO. Play Beyond.

According to AVS:

Fox doesn't matter, Disney doesn't matter, the PS3 doesn't matter, Blockbuster doesn't matter, Neilson numbers don't matter, larger capacity disks don't matter. Just add Australia to the growing list. To make things simplier, I should just say that accoring to AVS, reality doesn't matter.

edit:hey ra1024, you beat me to pointing out that AVS doesn't care about reality.

I'm actually surprised at this news. The retail positioning appears to favour 360 in my local area. This is anecdotal, but my local EB games manager is a total xbot head, as are his employees, which seemed to be in line with widespread reports of most game store workers favouring Microsoft in the states. I don't remember the last time when I heard an EB employee actually try to convince someone that PS3 is a better buy. Do you?

i dont know specifically how it happened in the states. But i live in Middle East where we have a good sales and remarkable one for PS2.

But now when PS3 introduced in worldwide and especially in the states here we have some retailers who have Imported PS3 and was selling like a hot cakes due to PS2 experience and of course a new technology was thrown in our hands.i did bought my PS3 for $1000 because i owned before PS2 and still functioning till the moment. As a result, there are thousand fans like me who are buying PS3 and even a friend of mine when i told him about Blu-ray experience and how it is beautiful once it is connected through HDMI to a Plasma screen or LCD Screen, you know what he answered me.
He did some research on the internet about PS3,the day after he told me i'm going to buy a PS3 and BRAVIA LCD just to enjoy like you the BD experience.
Anyway i did bought PS3 because it does include a Blu-ray Player and i have following the news for Blu-ray since a long time. Now it is introduce officially and it did cost you around $600 and it is selling like hotcakes too better price more games and BD movies where you can find it in multiple stores.XBOX360 not well selling because doesnt have a lot of fans.Everyone who owned a PS2 is willing to buy PS3 all the way. Also from my experience and visiting multiple stores especially the one where i did bought my PS3.There you can find about 100 titles of PS3 Games and BD movies,he told me BD is selling more and more everyday and MY BD libraries are increasing due to PS3.even he did buy an XBR series 46" just for Demo and letting know their PS2 customers how PS3 is Gorgeous.Yes from my own experience i convince everyone and i insist to enjoy BD experience even if someone is not convinced i invite him or her to my home where i show them the Future. At the end, they are amazed.

well down under , Harvey norman and the good guys to large electronic retailers are only stocking blu ray players , JB HI FI a massive retailer of music and movies are only going to stock blu ray and not any HD DVD movies.

Target i doubt will stock HD DVD and i think kmart will be the same so in Oz its looking rather blu ! which is'nt a bad thing

Only time I've seen people sell the PS3 have been folks trying to 'downsell' [only a downsell because of the price points really] a bd player to a ps3.

VGChartz has a chart for the weekly sales for Australia and I don't know what happened, but the Wii is out pacing it by quite a bit.

Ending 6/24/07
Wii-2,592
PS3-924

6/17
Wii-2,515
PS3-890

6/10
Wii-2,613
PS3-911

6/03
Wii-2,491
PS3-954

5/27
Wii-1,916
PS3-1,016

If you go back to launch of the PS3 in Australia-3/25, that is when they sold the most consoles, 21,839 units, it only out paced the Wii up to the last week in April ( a four week period) but it has been dropping ever since.

Default the reason

not to how do you say diss the wii but the reason why its such a good seller is that its the cheapest next gen console in Aus a Wii will set you back $400 while a core 360 is $500 plus and pre 360 is around $600 and the ps3 is a hefty $1000.

so alot of people are more likely to have a wii and a 360 then a ps3.
