Default Blu-rays outperformed by their DVD counterparts

Can you think of any tittles where the Blu-Ray is so bad that it actuelly looks worse then the DVD version?

Leviathan - http://www.caps-a-holic.com/hd_vergl...mage=0#auswahl

The transfer for the Blu-Ray of Leviathan I believe was sourced from an old DVD bootleg which they tried to compromise for by pumping up the contrast and using DNR. The MGM DVD clearly has a different more faithful colour timing and isn't digitally molested. It looks far and away better then the horrible Blu-Ray. This screenshot in particular just says it all:

DNR, compression and macroblocking on the Blu. Horrible.

The Dracula Superbit DVD was better especially since they really cahnged all the color timing on the blu-ray where everything was too dark.

The Predator DVD is probably better than the Ultimate Hunter's Edition Blu-ray.

But not better than the first grain-tastic blu-ray release of Predator.

Agreed.

The 2008 Blu-Ray is flawed, but its easily the best Predator has ever looked on home video.

There are several anime shows where the Blu-ray is a badly-done upscale that looks worse than the DVD itself. The only benefit to many of the older anime shows released on Blu-ray are the lossless soundtracks.

Direct comparisons of your chosen titles......

Very similar in some instances although the DVD is always inferior, With AOD and I Robot the difference is massive though. The compression on all the DVD screens are terrible. I just can't watch DVD anymore.

AOD does look alot sharper on BD judging by the comparisons but wide shots are the only major hints on i, robot that show huge difference. The others I mentioned like you said were very similar if not almost dead on with their DVD counterparts. IMO if the BD is anywhere close to the DVDs PQ its not worth buying. I would rather have the DVD in that case.

This one for sure.

Halloween for the same reasons, although I hear the blu is much sharper, I can't get over wrong colors. That also sent me to swapadvd for the dvd of:

Crow: City of Angels - Never bothered with the blu after horrid reviews. Add in no extra features and I knew dvd was probably better for this one.

The only bd's I have skipped for crap reviews seem to come from Echo Bridge. Sure there's an exception here and there (above even), but the Dracula series are all cropped on blu as well.

These may not look better on dvd, but they look better to me as a film fan who wants to see what was intended. Wrong colors and or ratios are unforgivable on blu.
