Just got this receiver, I ran MCACC setup and the speakers are all sounding great, I only have 1 problem. It says in the manual that it should display "DTS HD" or "DD HD" in the display when playing a source that is outputting that signal.
I just want to make sure I'm getting DTS-HD and Dolby True HD from my blu-rays. it sounds great but it should show up in the display of the receiver but it doesn't. my blu-ray player is a Sony BDP-S350 connected by HDMI cable any help? anybody have this receiver and can confirm it should show up in the display? |

answer my own question:
I found a setting in the Blu-ray player Audio options to choose between Mix or Direct. I set it to Direct and then it worked. I guess "Mix" the Blu-ray player decodes the audio and "direct" the audio gets decoded by the Reciever. |

Mix forces player decoding and mixes in secondary audio, when present. Direct uses the HDMI handshake to determine whether the player decodes or bitstreams. But, you don't get secondary audio. Since your AVR can decode lossless, the S350 will bitstream when set to Direct.
