How much will GI Joe Rise of the Cobra make opening weekend? - Blu-ray Forum

It's 91% on rotten tomatoes (after 11 reviews). It's also not the only movie opening this weekend. What do you think? How will Joe do opening weekend?

How do you think the top 5 will finish off?

The other two movies opening this weekend wide are Julie & Julia and Perfect Getaway.

I'm saying over $70 mill. It should do well. That RT number is skewed as barely anyone has reviewed it yet. I suspect it will go down a bit, but I am pumped for it.

Looking at this predictions I can't help but wonder if they know that no film has had a $70 million opening in August.

And given inflation there have been some, but I still can't see this film being bigger then Rush Hour 2 or Bourne Ultimatum etc.

This movie looks terrible, so bad! It will probably take in loads of money opening weekend. But I would stake some serious money that it will drop 60-70% the second weekend. I grew up with GI Joe but to me this looks like it could easily be the worst movie of the year (or decade).

Look at it this way. It cant be any worst then Transformers 2

Never liked the cartoon series as a young boy, and I'm really not interested seeing this even though my gf wants to see it Friday.

Movie looks bad IMO. Looking at showtimes for AMC it looks like there's not much showtime on opening night?

I will vote for $60 million. #2 Julie and Julia will not get over $20 million. HP6 will be #3 as "Funny Peple" will plummet like a rock. #4 The Ginea Pigs. Audiences are craving an action/fantasy type of movie...the typical Summer fare with lots of fast movements, loud sounds, and cool special effects.

I see it making 60-70 Millions. It should have a good weekend. I doubt it will put in numbers like Transformers 2 or Harry Potter but should still do well for a first weekend.
