Default Topgun and T2

how would you rate these movies on Blu Ray?

I popped in my old copy of very first T2 DVD and I was so underwhemed by the sound , it has DD 5.1 but it is a Prologic premixed into the channel, as I remembered, and it had since been re-re-released about 300 times and now finally skynet edition. Yes I read they are eventually going to remaster the picture...

The new sound on these 2 movies (plus a bit better picture) is going to give it a new experience?

I don't own Top Gun, but the Skynet Edition of T2 is only worth the extra value for its extra features (PiP) and better audio.

I watched Top Gun on BD for the first time a few weeks ago. I felt that the PQ was pretty good, as well as the AQ. It's not better than T2 Skynet, but I think overall the AQ was good enough. I never seen Top Gun on DVD, and the only time I've "watched" when I was a young boy with my parents in the movie theaters.

I haven't bought T2 yet, I bought Top Gun a few months ago for 10 bones at Wally World. Cannot beat that price for a bluray, especially for one of my favorite movies.

Both of these were listed in the Buy 2 Get 1 Free Sale at Amazon that isn't going to go live until 8/11.

Here is the prices from this morning.
Terminator 2: Judgment Day (Skynet Edition) [Blu-ray] $15.99
Top Gun [Blu-ray] - Tom Cruise; Blu-ray $14.49

I imagine both will be about $5 more each on Tuesday.

Top Gun is one of my all-time favorite movies. I wouldn't put the Blu transfer in the upper tier of Blu back-catalogue releases, but it still looks and sounds pretty good - and is definitely a worthy upgrade from my DVD copy. I noticed hair in Viper's nose I never noticed on my DVD before!

I'm tempted to get both Terminator and Terminator 2: skynet in that Amazon sale.....I still need to upgrade my DVD copies but on the fence whether it's worth it or not.

Terminator 2 is excellent. I can't remember how many times I've watched it. Picture is dated but clean, and the audio will blow you away. Go for T2.

I was really disappointed with the PQ on TOP GUN. Just a DNR smear-job as far as I was concerned. I really like the movie, which is why I was so let down.

Yeah, I agree. Definitley the worst transfer I have seen on blu. Not worth $5.00, not even for the audio. Paramount didn't spend any money to put out for a decent transfer.

T2 is DNR'd to but it is not as much. The one scene that had me laughing was when John and the T-800 pull up outside the insane asylum. If you look at John's face it is smeared in magenta and looks like wax, fake.

I always hear the word DNR when the picture is a little soft or the movie is old
I mean the movie is like over 20 years old..

I did get it on the amazon deal so topgun was technically it's $10 or free..

TL has seen Topgun on DVD but not on bluray. TL thought Topgun was ok, but TL did love the song that goes "Highway to the Danger Zone"

Watch it with the insults.

I'm viewing TOP GUN on blu ray disc, what are you watching? The sound is awesome, but the PQ was poor enough that I could not continue watching. It starts with the very first image... the F14 on the deck at dawn... with a wall of frozen film grain plastered across the background. Bizarre looking at best. The "wax face" look was particularly bad when Mav and Goose get their orders for Miramar. If you like the PQ, great. To me, it looks like over-processed video.

To be fair, I'm watching on a 10ft wide screen -- so maybe I'm seeing things you can't.
