Default got new speakers

hi I'm a new member but been using this site for many years. I recently bought Samsung ln55b640 and it was finally time to upgrade my speakers. I bought 2 polk m20 floor speakers to replace my polk rm6750 satellite speakers and also got the Boston acoustics cs23. I was wondering if i should return the cs23 and get the cs26 for 13 dollars more or replace them with polk m30? there are a lot of mixed reviews for the polk m30s and very few reviews for the cs23-26 . Also looking for new center and subs. I haven't had time to really sit through a whole movie to test out the new toys because i been working 60+ hours a week. Any help would be grateful.

First, welcome to the site. Second, what kind of budget are you playing with? NewEgg is a great place to look for a Polk center channel to match the M20's (I hope you got a great deal on these, as NewEgg has a great price on the Monitor 50's and 60's), and you can get additional info and feedback on the M30's to help round out your decision for surrounds. I have the 30's as surrounds, and they do a more than solid job of providing my surround sound IMO.

As Forsberg has already said,"Welcome to the Forum, and specifically to the "Speaker" Thread.

The Polk M20's are pretty good floor standing speakers. They have a good range and smooth highs with the 3/4 inch silk dome tweeters.I will have to follow forsbergs recommendation and advise you get a Polk Center Channel speaker to match your M20's.That way the Front Soundstage will sound the same as the dialouge and front sound effects have a smooth, seamless transition from speaker to speaker as the sound pans across the screen.

The Polk CSM Center Channel Speaker is the match for the M-20's and even the M-10's(which are very good speakers for the price).

Here is a link to the Polk Audio CSM Center Speaker:
http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-CSM...9468043&sr=8-1

Sadly NewEgg used to sell the CSM for $50 to $60 but they are not carrying the CSM speakers anymore(or at least right now,but perhaps a phone call to NewEgg may be worth a try)I would also look for a used CSM or a Polk Audio CSR center speaker is also a good match to the M-10's and M-20's as they share the same tweeters.

Also a Polk CS1 Center Speaker is a very good deal for an incredible performeing center channerl. Here is a link to the CS1 from Polk and Sold by NewEgg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16882290022

The Polk Monitor 30's are good speakers from all that I have heard and from first hand reviews from owners. They match the Polk CS-1 center Speaker perfectly as they All share the same 1 inch polymer/silk composite dome tweeters. They also share the same polymer 5 1/4 inch woofers and would make a tremendous 3 way front sound stage.

Perhaps moving the Polk M20's to the rear for your surround speakers.
But No matter what choices you make you will receive the Best and most sincere Help Possible by the Outstanding and Very Friendly Members of the Blu Ray Forum.

thank you very much. yea i was looking at the polk center and they got great reviews. 100 was around what i wanted to spend for center speakers. i also might return the boston acoustics they were 61 each.. i would be saving 22 if i switched to the polk30s so it would only cost me 80 for the center. again thank you very much for your help.

You are Extremely Welcome.
I think you would be making 2 Great moves in moving up to the Polk Monitor 30's(over the M20's since the Monitor 30's have a 1 inch tweeter compared to the M20's 3/4 inch tweeter).
And adding a Polk CS1 Center Speaker to the Monitor 30's would give you an incredible Front SoundStage.
All 3 Front speakers would share the exact same woofers and tweeters. So the movement of sound from side to side(going thru the center)would be as good as it gets.

right now i have polk m20s in the front with polk rm6750 center speakers with boston acoustics cs 23 for surrounds sound along with the polk rm6750 subs. i was thinking about getting the polk cs10 for center speakers. I had read many reviews and almost all of them were happy with their purchase. do you think the m20s will sound better with the cs10 or cs1? is the cs10 worth the extra 30? going try to order the polk m30s tom and return the boston acoustics, im going try to have all of my speakers be polk because i was very happy with the polk rm6750 when i was broke lol . now i have a little extra money so it was def time to upgrade my home theater system. thank you forsberg and talstarone for helping me pick out my speakers.

The CS10 is exactly the same speaker as the CS1, except for the piano black finish on the sides. Save $30 and just get the CS1, unless you like that particular look. I think the CS1 will make your entire front soundstage sound better (thus helping the M20's), because dialogue is about 50% of your audio experience, and you want a good, solid center channel. You would be doing yourself a better justice by getting new fronts when you can, like the Monitor 50's (they are quite cheap right now, but NewEgg is out of them at the moment.) This way you will be timber matched all across your front soundstage. Not saying the M20's won't sound good, just that with the M50's you'll have better imaging as sound moves from the left front to the center and over to the front right in those scenes that demand that kind of audio.

forsberg is 100% dead on with his post.
His recommendations of the Monitor 50's are a great deal for this very short timed sale(if you can get a pair of Polk Monitor 50's/go for it).

If you cant take advantage of it then yes,the Polk Monitor 30's would be a better choice then the M20's.
But no matter which front and rear speakers you choose, choosing the right Center Speaker is the most important choice you can make with your new speakers. The CS1 speakers is the way to go.Same woofers and tweeter as the CS10,just a slight difference in the cabinets appearance.

But at the Very Least,I would recommend the Polk M20(or perferably the M30's)as the Front L&R Speakers. The CS1 as the Center Channel Speaker. And either the Polk M10's,Polk M20's,0r Polk Monitor 30's as the Rear Surround Sounds.

But for around $200 to $300 you can have a tremendous Speaker Set-up from Polk Audio.
So,take your time, think it over, and choose what you think would work the best for you.

yo hamp how much are you willing to drop for rm 6750? i kept them in perfect condition, you will not find a scratch on any of speakers. had them for about a year and never abused them, they all work perfectly just like brand new. i am missing a box but will provide you a box and bubble wrap to keep them safe. i was going try to sell them for 180 on ebay but price is negotiable.

that's a good starting point actually. Amazon has them for $215 but with $28 shipping, & Newegg has them for $220 but with FREE shipping. If they're in as good a shape as you note, you should be able to get them near that price. I loved my RM6750's!! Had them for a while & they Never let me down! Great BIG Sound for such small speakers.

what do u guys think about having two M20's for front speakers with a Cs1 for center and two M30's for rear speakers? im living in a townhouse so i dont want to disturb the neighbors, and i cant spend too much. i had rm6750 and it was great but after visiting some stores i realized how much i was missing out. the total cost for it is about without subs is 322, for a pair of m30 is 100, pair of m20s for 122 and cs1 for center for 100? im going to use the subs until i can sell them. i dont know if having all m30s? and cs1 for center is better then having m20s in the front? i dont know much about audio but you guys have been very helpful.

For only a $15.00 per speaker difference the Monitor 60's are a better choice then the Monitor 50's.You get a third 5 1/4 inch woofer with the Monitor 60's which help deliver a little more Bass, along with a more dynamic and vibrant overall sound.

The Monitor 50's are good performers as well, but I could see NO reason not to upgrade to the Monitor 60's for such a slight difference in price.

how about the 30s vs 40s? 30s were 200 now on sale for 100, and 40s were 300 now selling for 130. should i spend 30 more to future proof my system? or the 30s will last me a long time?

For just $30 more, get the 40's. They are a nice upgrade over the 30's. Just make sure you have the space for them, as they are rather large surround speakers....and heavy too!

I will have to second forsbergs recommendation. The 30's are good speakers but for that small of a price difference I have to say the 40's are a Great Deal!

i found these bic America center today for 106 at amazon. anyone know if dv-62clrs are good and if they will work well with the other polk speakers, the m60 and m40 or stick with all polk? i have never heard of Bic America before and was wondering if anyone here had them or using them now for their center. if the bic and the polk cs1 performance are the same im just going to stick with the cs-1. thank you so much for your advice been very helpful. now i just have to decide which to choose for center speakers the bic america or polks cs1. i cant even watch my new blus now, need to wait for the new speakers lol.
