Default Am I the only one who wants this feature for the PS3?

So I was going through all the games I have installed on my PS3 that I've downloaded from the store, and I had a thought.

Why not implement something in the firmware in the future that allows your demos to go in a separate folder from the actual games?

Just have two folders under GAMES, one, would include all the demos that get installed, and the other would have all the full games. If you buy a game after playing the demo, it would automatically switch it over to the other folder.

Is this like insanely hard to do, or is this a rational thought? I'm not asking for Backwards compatibility here (seriously Sony....give us BC) I think this isn't out of the realm of possibility.

That's already possible. Just click Triangle on a game, go to information, and type in 'Games', and do this for all of your real games, then press square to sort them by album, and you'll have separate folders for games and new downloads.

If anything I want to be able to listen to my MP3 on the PS3 while playing a game that is the only reason I like the 360 a little more

Well some PS3 games allow you to listen to music that's stored on your HDD but it's only just a few.

Thats available on the PS3. Its up to the developers if they want to apply that feature to their game. So its not an advantage that the 360 has, its just up to the devs if they use that feature.

Yep, I assign "Games" to all of my purchased games, and then I have "Demos" and "Betas" as well. I'm an organization freak, so I love this feature.

If you're like me and have a ton of PSN games (I have over 50), this really helps. I'm actually thinking of subdividing Games into Games A-M and N-Z, or breaking them up by genre.

The only thing I wish the PS3 could do is improve on the parental controls. I'd like if I could specify a certain game rating my kids are allowed to play (like E-10 and below), and any titles not fitting that criteria will not appear on the games list when they log in under their account. As it is, even my 4 y/o can see the Afro Samurai demo screen, which isn't cool.

There is something I didn't know I was always frustrated that I had Demos and Games in the same folder...And I know some games can read music off the HDD but it would be nice to have an option to listen to our "own" music whenever we wanted to play a game. ESPECIALLY UFC: Undisputed...got that music makes me want to smash my head against a rock...rap metal....

What you will find is there is alot of things the ps3 can do that most people are not aware of, there was a thread dedicated to this a long time ago...

I do this too, Demos/Betas in one folder, full games in the other. I used to have a 3rd folder for other stuff like Qore downloads etc, but just moved that to Demos.

Yeah, that is exactly what I do too. I put all my "real" games in "Games" and everything else I just leave in the Default folder which sorts to the bottom (too many demos for me to go through and name them all to a specific Demo folder).

Well how about THIS smart guys? lol

Why not put something in the firmware that separates your DOWNLOADS in the PSN into two folders. One for Demos and one for Games

That way you don't have to cycle through all the many demos just to find games that you bought.

Especially considering that you can't remove demos from your download list.

Have them in two separate folders, alphabetized, and that way you can find the proper game or demo easier.

I agree. My Download list on the PS Store is a bit unwieldy--would be nice if there were some management tools there.

It *IS* a disadvantage though, because you can do it with any game on the other system. On the PS3 we are at the developer's mercy.

I don't think it's a big deal, but it can't be said that it isn't a feature we have because we don't... unless the developer wants us to have it.

That would be brilliant. Or at least let you categorize, alphabetize, etc. My download list is like 400+ strong, from DLC to PSN games to demos to PSP stuff... it's madness finding anything on there. I actually made a spreadsheet of all my DLC because I have 2 PS3's and a PSP and I want to keep track of what's installed where. Crazy.

You really want all that heat and salt and butter THAT close to your $400 machine? Your call not mine but I would never use something like that.
