Default Army of darkness question

Sorry if my post doesnt make sense but I was wondering, I have never watched any of the evil dead movies and i was wondering would I still be able to understand Army of darkness or do i need to watch them first?

You don't need to watch the other 2 to be able to enjoy it.

But I would recommend also picking up Evil Dead 2 on Blu and watching them both.

You could watch Army of Darkness by itself. It does starts off recounting what happened in Evil Dead 2 so I don't think you would have any problems understanding what's going on. As far as continuity goes Evil Dead 2 is basically a reboot/remake of Evil Dead it covers alot of the same ground.

That being said I would recomend seeing Evil Dead 2 first, if only for the fact that it is the best horror comedy IMHO. Bruce Cambell is genius in it.

hardly. only the first three minutes are from one. and Evil Dead is still the best horror movie ever made imo.

Well that's the way I see it anyhow. The same person goes back to the cabin in the woods, this time with a different group of friends...

And they definately took it in a different direction with the comedy.

the first three minutes was a re-cap of the original movie, but they didnt have the cast back.

I like ED 2 better.Thought 1 was much more classic horror and gritty.#2 is hillarious with (almost) the same story.Plus #2 is much better made + it was the first classic Raimi horror-comedy.

Like all here have said:You can watch AoD fine without having seen the first ones
