Default Is this setup good?

Since I've had my Samsung 46 inch for a year, looking into home theater systems is my next thing. My question is if the following setup is ok: Pioneer 5.1-Channel A/V Receiver VSX-519V-K and Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1CH Home Theater Speaker System. Any other suggestions about other receivers and speakers will be appreciated. Thank you.

The receiver will limit you to not only 5.1, but it won't allow you to have the lossless audio codecs.

I'd look elsewhere.

Not entirely true. With this receiver (as with my own), whether or not he can hear the lossless codecs will depend on the ability of his BD player to decode them and send them via 5.1 analog out into the receiver's 5.1 analog in. For example - I can hear everything currently available because my player decodes them all.

xneox speakers the truth. The 519 has analog inputs so as long as the player as analog outputs and decodes the audio, he's good to go.

I'm using the ps3 as my BD player.

So lets say i go with the ONKYO 7.2-Channel Home Theater Receiver HT-RC160 and the Polk Audio RM6750 Black 5.1CH Home Theater Speaker System, would the ps3 support lossless audio codecs? Also, that would mean buying two other speakers to get 7.1 surround sound right?

In that case, due to the limitations of the PS3, you would want to choose a receiver that has HDMI and decodes lossless codecs.

I can speak to the RM6750, I love the set, especially for the price. Obviously there are better systems out there if you have cash to burn, but at just over $230 currently on Amazon, I'd say it's worth every penny. You don't necessarily have to buy them right away, but plus is the same speakers from the set sell individually if you ever wanted to make the jump to 7.1

Only complaint about it is that the center channel could use an upgrade, but that can always come with time. I've been nothing but pleased with the speakers.

EDIT: after looking at price tracking on amazon, $230 is even relatively high based upon historical prices. Still a good deal, it'll only drop about $20 or so.

That is currently the setup I am running - the 519, using a Pansonic blu-ray player that decodes lossless and sends it via HDMI as PCM. The 519 accepts the already decoded audio no problem, the whole thing works great. In fact, I'm even running the RM6750 as my speakers.
