Default New HT and a2-300, Need Help.

My a2-300 just came in today so I have finally hooked up my speakers, receiver and sub. I am new to all of this so I need some help with the settings with the receiver and the sub. Any help would great, I would like to try and get it all working tonight if possible. See my signature for the rest of my equipment.

congrats.

first find the best placement for the sub. (crawl method works great) place the sub in your seat, and crawl the floor for best sound, and bingo. place sug right there. next run audessey on your receiver, and let it do its thing. the one thing i found with the audessey/onkyo is that it sets the sub level pretty low sometimes as low as -12. i move it up a few to maybe -8 on mine. many reviews on that sub. seems to be setting the "volume" knob at around 11 oclock works well with that. and make sure when running audessey you set the sub crossover all the way up....

thats pretty much it from me... i am sure others will chime in with more/better advice.

fyi fab up a sub riser for that thing and get some better sound also..

good luck

Where can I make that adjustment. I went through the manual and it wasn't very helpful.

on screen menu go into level calibration and adjust from there. or right on the osd on the receiver. just push the setup button on the remote

For some reason it is not recognizing my Directv, it just keeps searching for signal. Any thoughts?

I am thinking it is the receiver. When I click on "CBL/SAT" on the remote my screen shows "Directv" and at the bottom it indicates it is searching for signal.

well maybe loose hdmi/handshake. make sure its in all the way. make sure you have it in the correct input, and output is also correct. and may sound stupid but yous sat. receiver is on.... also what is your sat. receiver display set for 480/720/1080i try switching these

maybe even more stupid than that. you may have lost your line of site to satellite. if you are seeing the dirtect tv logo on your tv, then the signal is getting thru but your satellite dish is trying to find a signal. maybe a tree in the way, rain. wind....

I just checked the back of my diretv HD box and I had the cord from the wall in the wrong hook up, I just switched it and it started establishing the signal right away. It is working now, thanks for mentioning the cords, I probably would not have thought that was the issue after trying everything else.

are you running 5.1 or 7.1? i am running 5.1 out of my onkyo receiver and have my monitors bridged. as i remember your towers are 8ohms and will handle bridging or bi-amping.
