Considering how much lower BD revenue the POTC 4 week was than what I expected, I'm going to have to go low this week. Captain America seems to be a good seller, but it will have a DVD counterpart, plus it had a 3D premium at the Box Office that could have inflated it's performance, unlike a movie like Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes which actually made over $170 million with only a 2D release. With Captain America's 68% BD market share, it will probably perform better in its first week than what Thor did on Blu-ray, but I don't think it will be enough to have higher revenue than the Lion King/ Fast Five/ Transformers 3 Blu-ray week.
Jurassic Park can provide a nice push in revenue, but I'm not sure how much. The lost in revenue for POTC 4 might not be enough to give this week a big push. Considering how I've over shot the last couple of weeks, I'll go with my gut feeling this time and play it save with a high $40 million revenue week. Hopefully I'm wrong and Blueshadows prediction comes true. ![]() |

I am anxiously awaiting this data. This is the most curious I have been all year.
All early indications are that Captain America over achieved its box office pedigree on home video the question is by how much and how much the Sunday offset will affect the data. |

Based on the data provided by The-Numbers for the DVD sales, and the 68% BD market share reported for Captain America, it looks like it really over performed like you mentioned, when compared to other recently released similar movies.
I keep awaiting HMM estimated revenues ![]() ![]() |
