Doesn't matter to me, DVD cases were much bulkier.

The size of the keepcase aside, I wish they'd leave the Digital Copy out of all Blu-ray releases, period. I can see including a DVD copy of the movie along with the Blu-ray, that tides some people over until they can buy a Blu-ray player.
But the Digital Copy disc is a total waste of plastic (and landfill space), and I resent having to pay extra for it in sets that don't give you an option to buy just the Blu-ray or Blu-ray/DVD combo. ![]() |

I like the thicker cases cause it makes them special, in my eyes. They stand out, which I like. It just makes me mad how they first released Bolt in the thinner case and then released it in the thicker case. I want the thicker case for Bolt but alas I bought it with the thin case. It's just my OCD, I guess.

I hate them too. The worse of all is that i saw a wall-e 3 disc edition with fat slipcover but thin case!!!! it goes out very easily because it doesn't fit properly. Stop using fat cases, Disney!!! Do it like in Sleeping Beauty or Warner that digital copy is outside the box in an external envelope.

Then worst of all, out of curiosity, I picked one up and pulled it out of the clip cover to see what the actual case art looked like (i.e. to see if they resized it to fit the smaller case), and the whole thing got worse! The artwork on the actual BD cover was actually still the one designed for the thicker case. The part that goes down the side/spine was too big to line up properly, so it hung over into the front a bit. In order to make the artwork fit in the case, they basically cut part of it off on the right side of the front of the artwork (basically, if you look at the full cover from the thick set, there is a blue border with sort of a fancy looking design going up and down the sides of the front and across the bottom.... on this regular case version, the entire right side portion of this was cut off). It looked terrible. The only thing that I don't like about the thick cases is that they take up more room on the shelf. I don't necessarily care if Disney uses them, as long as they are consistent about it and actually continue to use the thick case, and don't do this half-assed business of take artwork and slipcovers designed for a thicker case and forcing a regular sized case to work with them. Speaking of Wall-E, I'd like to get that movie, but I'd really like to find the 3 disc version with slipcover (I don't care at all about the digital copy, but since all of my Disney movies have come with slipcovers so far, I want to be consistent with that), but I've been having a hard time finding it still with the slipcover. I know the 2-disc version never had it, otherwise I would get that edition. |
