Paul Anderson originally was the writer of the Castlevania script. Until the studio decided they needed a rewrite. Now the creative genius behind the Saw films is on board. When asked about Castlevania, Anderson (who is still on board as a producer) had this to say:

“One of the things with Castlevania is it’s not just about the creatures but the environment trying to get to you as well," he explained. "I think [Wan] is a terrific choice [to rewrite the script] because a key part of Castlevania is the intensity of being trapped within the confines of the castle, and he’s shown with Saw that he excels with intensity in confined spaces.”

This is good news for you ComicBookMovie Horror fans out there. The Saw films were well written and Wan seems to be a master of setting up tight spaces for his victims to escape from. It will be nice to see what Wan can come up with for Belmont to escape. Hopefully they make Dracula a ruthless bad ass like he is portrayed in the video game.

No filming date has been released with Paul Anderson himself saying Castlevania is still in pre production.

So much potential, but I have so little faith in video games turned into movies being very good.

WOW!!! Last I read a few months back and this movie was a no go!! I a absolutely waiting for this. And yes please no Anderson! he trashed AVP!! This is one of my top gaming franchises and if done right this could be great!! Good info man!!

I would hope this turns out similar to Van Helsing, basically a guy version of Buffy kicking the crap out of vampires left and right.

Ouch. With this creative team, the movie is going to have nothing to do with the Castlevania story (ala Resident Evil). I predict the result will be similar to the movie Van Helsing. I'm not sure why the game designers are rarely involved when games are translated into movies. I'm not saying the game designers should write the movie script (I am aware there is a large difference between writing a script for a game and writing a movie script). I think the game designers should assist to make sure writers understand the story, themes, background, setting and overall feel of the game. I can arguably say Paul Anderson never played one second of a Resident Evil game before making the movies.

I'm not bashing Van Helsing as everyone has different opinions, but this is my fear. Castlevania has nothing in common with Van Helsing other than monsters.

I agree with that!! I will be upset if its like van Helsing!! This could be 10 times better!! They need to follow the game with a great story man!!
