Cheapest Burner - Blu-ray Forum

What is the cheapest Blu-Ray recorder? I've been interested in buying one but I don't want to spend over 400$ on somthing I have no use for, I don't even know why I want one, but I do....lol

for under 400 dollers u can`t even get an 1x hd dvd burnner around 600 is what u will ahve to pay

The Sony goes for CAD$500 at Future Shop here (owned by BB). So, I would expect much better deals online in the US.

Myself, I'm waiting for a 4x-8x model under $300 before I jump in.

No HD-DVD burners available yet. Many Blu-ray burners though, with your choice of EIDE or SATA interface: Lite-On, Sony, Pioneer, Philips, Samsung, Panasonic, Plextor, several more I don't recall

Prices start at about $450.

Wait till 2009. Blu-ray drives that stomp a mud hole in the current $499 drives will only cost $150 or mayby even under $100, considering how $800 burrners have dropped almost half in price in less than a year.

DVD 9's + dual pass AVC can make for pretty decent HD content, if your good at encoding.

It's just that Blu-ray writable disc make 1 to 1 "backups" far easier.

seriously, remember how expensive DVD burners, recorders and players were like 5 years ago? theyre a fraction of the price now and they as well as the software exponentially better. also the cost of blu-ray blanks are high now still. might as well wait a few years and its gonna drop ridiculous
