Being released on Blu-Ray? Anyone heard anything?

Unfortunately it is one of the films locked because of the legal issues with the folding of hd-dvd.
It and the other films in the listing will be locked to hd dvd exclusively until 2012 even though the format is dead.

Huh? Sony has the rights. What legal issues with HD DVD are there?

I would bet on a release by next fall.

Never heard of that either. That's just ridiculous if it's true.

At the start of the year I read Sony's Blu-ray releases for 2008 and Stand By Me was set for August 2008.

I've been searching google quite a bit for more information on this but found nothing.
Amazon has it listed, but they havn't got a release date for it.

Come on Sony!

Stand By Me is a Columbia Pictures aka Sony movie. And it would not of been released on HD DVD.
Great movie and one of the best Stephen King storys to be adapted to the screen.
It was on HDNET Movies a few months ago and I thought it looked realy good in HD.I would buy it on Blu-Ray.

Been googling every now and then to check for any news, but still nothing.
It's a shame, would love to see this on blu-ray. Probably my fav movie

And on Friday it was exactly 22 years since the movie was released in cinemas. Would have been an ideal time to release it.
I know that the original plan was for August 08, but that aint gonna happen now.

Think this could do with a bump since it's a year later but seeing how A River Runs Through It got a digibook I don't see why this wouldn't.
