First time posting on these forums, and just curious if anyone knows if George Lucas will be releasing Star Wars (all 6 of them) on Blu-Ray.

Guys , anyone who has a blu ray player , you should watch the dvds on there .It is a well known fact that all blu ray players upscale.I watched a new hope on my blu ray player last night , the quality while not blu ray , was much better than watching it on my regular dvd player.

Not really. Upscaling is really just stretching a image acroos to fit the resolution of your HD display. So your still only seeing 480i. Only your Blu-ray player does a better job then your HDTV at stretching the image then smoothing it out to get rid of jaggies.

Last I heard, didn't they talk about releasing "Star Wars" in 3-D sooner or later?

I remember Lucas saying that the dvds would never come out until there was a big enough installation base for dvd players. I'm sure once they think there is a large enough installed base for blu ray, the 6 movies will be released. What that number is, who knows other than Lucas.

It took it 15 years to be released on DVD, so I think it will eventually come out.

Oh these film are coming to Blu-Ray there is no doubt about it. As for when, well...

Could be next year, could be five years from now. Lucas will release them when he is good and ready. He certainly was in no hurry to put them out on DVD that's for sure.

He only has to do that for the theatricals not the special editions.
