Question Hang Surround Sound Speakers From The Ceiling Klipsch RS-52

I think I Figured out how to get a 7.1 Setup in my living room,I would really like to hear your thoughts and advice to see if this is possible or not.

I will be starting with a 5.1 Setup at first though below is my 5.1 Setup

Speakers 5.1 Surround Sound System

1.Klipsch Icon Tripple 5-1/4” 2 Way Floor Floorstanding Speaker Espresso
Model:WF-35
Connectors:Binding Post

2.Klipsch Icon Dual 4-1/2” 2 Way Center Channel Speaker Espresso
Model:WC-24
Connectors:Binding Post

3.Klipsch Reference 5-1/4” Surround Sound Speaker
Model: RS-52
Connectors:Connectors:Binding Post

4.Klipsch 12” 650W Powered Sub Woofer
Model:SUB-12
Connectors:Connectors:Connectors:Binding Post

To Add a 7.1 Setup I would imagine I would need to get two more of the following speakers below is what I am stating correct or not.

Klipsch Reference 5-1/4” Surround Sound Speaker
Model: RS-52
Connectors:Connectors:Binding Post

A few days ago I saw a picture that a member had that had two Klipsch's RS-42's mounted on the Ceiling which I imagine were really the speakers that were supposed to go on the side walls but instead they were mounted on the Ceiling and aming downward toward the couch I was wondring if I can do the same with my RS-52's to get 7.1 surround sound what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks In Advance For Your Replys

Question I know These are not Klipsch Surrounds But Can I do something like this

I would just need to buy two more Klipsch RS-52's for the sides and angle them towards the sofa which will then be moved to the center of the room instead of being on the back wall what are your thoughts on something like this.

why not get in-walls, or in-ceiling speakers for the rear surrounds?

Question Hi thanks for responding I thought about that but...

Hi thanks for responding I thought about that but I like the style of the Klipsch RS-52's so instead of the speaker in the picture can I get a celing mount and angle them toward the sofa or will it sound bad?

Thanks In Advance For your Replys

Post Would Anybody Recommend Putting Klipsch RS-52's Up There or will it not be sturdy

Would Anybody Recommend Putting Klipsch RS-52's Up There or will it not be sturdy enough up there and besides as the number of Blurays increase that have 7.1 Audio I do not want to be left out of that experience, based on the articles on this site surround sound speakers should be at or above ear level correct.

I'm not familiar with the back of those speakers....... but if you can mount them from the back..... no reason you can't mount them on an angle (use a 45 degree wedge)

Make sure you hit a stud though!

Here is my rear speaker, on the wall, angled downward.

Don't mind the hallucinogenic dots in the sky

Exclamation

A Family Friend Came To see me the other day and suggested what you see in the layout below the only thing I am not able to move will be the sofa which will still have to be against the wall still is this a possible 7.1 setup

I will post Room Layout 2 which will be the 7.1 Setup I am trying to achieve

Note:I didn't post this layout before because I had not thought about it until the family friend came to visit.

I will post other possible layouts in the afternoon.

The diagram looks good...... with all of that space behind the sofa, you can't use stands???????

Question Here Is A New Diagram To See If It Looks Better To You

A Few Notes About The Diagram

1.The Black Parts Are The Walls
2.The Sofa Is Against The Back Wall
3. The To Tables On The Sides Of Sofa Are Called Bunch Tables

If I go the Celiling Mount Route I could just leave the sofa against the back wall and add to subs in the back where the bunch tables are later on, Is This New 7.1 Setup Possible?

looking at your diagram..... it puts your viewing distance at about 12' or so? I would move the couch up 5' or so, perpendicular to the opening to the other room...

This would allow room for the rears, and reduce the viewing distance.... both good things!

Is that 2' and 2" ??? I guess I though there was more room from the back wall to the opening on the right of the room....

Either way, I think that looks great...... Do you have an actual picture of the room?

Post Hi Guys Can Someone Answer My Question Below

Are the Klipsch Surround Sound Speakers RS-52's Good For The Side And Rear Surrounds? Or Do The Back And Rear Surrounds Have to be defferent sets of speakers?

I'm sorry for being so in impatient but I have to know the answer to the question above because Bestbuy has to Special Order the RS-52's they don't have them in the store so it will take a few weeks to get them.

hmm. will try to answer a few of your questions,
1. you can definitely mount them above you, but im not certain as to how much your room (i dont know how big the room is) would benefit from them.
2. ive seen people use the wall mounts and have them hanging the speakers pointing straight down from the ceiling. not a bad idea, but id be more worried about safety at this point. these are quite heavy speakers by the way.
3. since you currently have RS52's then that would be my default for adding on more.

a simple question back, why would you want to go 7.1 in the first place? if you currently have a great 5.1 setup, do you really think that adding 2 more on the ceiling would add a substantial change?

second, you are already using dipoles, that alone should result in a very spatial (no pun intended ) experience.

just a thought.
