I doubt. Movies usually get sent around to the stores about one to two weeks before street date. You can, however, get into trouble with studios for selling before street date.

Two deeply, truly mediocre movies?

Firstly, breaking street dates is actually illegal.

Secondly, the sh*tty quality of your picture makes it difficult to see the quality of the covers, making it difficult to determine the authenticity.

$18 each.

I dont have all the time in the world to take the best pictures for movie covers. Just a quick shot is all it matters. I may be illegal for the seller but not to me which isint my problem in the first place.

1. It takes 2 minutes to take a decent picture. It's not exactly a monumentus quest!

2. It is illegal, and these BDs are evidence of that. You are holding that evidence, making you just as liable to face prosecution if it is discovered that you have them.

I don't think its illegal to break street date. A store may get a hefty fine and employee(s) may loose their job or even worse not be able to purchase future product from the specific studio. I don't see anyone going to jail over breaking street date. I am sure our legal system has more to worry about them someone getting a Blu-ray or a game a few weeks early.

You'd be surprised at how greedy some studios are in this economy.

Genuine question--- how can it be ILLEGAL to buy a genuine product if and only if it is before "release day"? Companies prerelease items to certain customers very frequently; And if it is really illegal to buy a genuine product before the marketing departments release date for that geography, that is the case is everyone that buys blu's from the uk breaking the law? I highly doubt that it is illegal. It may be against the company policy and a retailer could be sued for breech of contract; but I highly doubt it is ILLEGAL to purchase something a week before walmart can sell it. Again if it is genuine. Please enlighten me if I am blatantly wrong.

Yeah, I don't think it's illegal to break street dates, but stores can get slapped with very hefty fines if they're caught putting stuff out early, which is why most retailers don't do it.

Your understanding of the law is not correct. But, it is doubtful the police will be knocking at your door anytime soon. Good luck.

uhhhhhh, IT IS NOT ILLEGAL to buy a movie before street dates. the studios do NOT have any legal hold over a retailer from selling their product early. they have the OPTION of fining said retailer or withholding stock from them but no law or law enforcement acts can be taken into effect.
