Default Will all TV series become available on Blu-ray ?

Hi,

Im wondering if all TV series like "King of Queens" etc. get released on Blu-ray Discs... ?

Because you can already pre-order "Weeds", and also "Heroes" for HDDVD.

so, will all series become available on a HD medium (specially Blu-ray)?

Thanks!

Not likly imo. Alot will, alot won't.

It really depends on the show itself [ie, was it shot, with the idea of being broadcast/distributed in HD resolutions].

Some shows just won't be feasible, while they could just use the BDR for increased storage and reduce disk count, there's limited benefit to that since consumer BD-players will typically play DVDs anyway.

That and Battlestar Galactica. AND House.

On the other hand, MGM has both Stargate shows.

Whenever Universal stops fighting the truth not only will the Hd battle of the formats be over but you and i can enjoy cheaper Bluray products but we can all enjoy what we love to watch on TV on Blu. Until then i reccomend buying the HD package from Direct TV. Includes all local channels. So you can watch House , 24, and heroes all in HD. It will hold you at least until they are released after the timely death of HD-DVD. Plus the package from Direct TV is only $9.99

That's a fun bit of mud too. Especially since Atlantis shows on Universal channels [which doesn't mean much if anything, but it's something that can get ugly mucky much like say TMNT].

Yeah, that was surprising to see Atlantis on UniversalHD.

I've only seen it in syndication and on SCIFI, but HD would be awesome.

But I really don´t know what to do right now...^^ should i just wait until the battle between Blu-ray & HDDVD is over, or go out and buy the series on DVD...

hm... i guess im getting "Weeds" and all the other new series that i like
(if possible) on Blu-ray, and wait until the situation is clear

All TV series aren't even available on DVD so they certainly won't be available on Blu-ray.

They will probably continue to release only recent seasons for the time-being as they are doing with Rescue Me S3, Smallville S6, The Sopranos S6. When sales pick up, they will probably go back and pick up earlier seasons of shows shot in HD like The King of Queens.

It has to do with who owns SciFi [that would be NBC/Universal].

Makes sense really when you realize that.

MGM does the distribution of the disks though [for that I am grateful], so if they do release it in an HD format, it'll be BD, but the question is really if they're going to do that. Yea, they said a year ago it would, but no materialization.

What's funny is, my brother and I have Dish Network HD, and the other day I was watching Funhouse on Universal Hd and the channel kept cutting out. Haha, wonder if that's from a lack of funds from hu dud sales. Every other channel seemed to work just fine.

Cool

I never was really moved to buy tv series' on dvd. I have all the Family Guy sets(another due in September) and some X-files episodes on VHS. I don't feel compelled to buy a tv series that I've just watched all season long. In that regard, I hope studios focus on bringing quality movies out first to blu-ray. I've gotta say though I'd be tempted to bite if Band of Brothers ever went blu

Well, something to remember there, television stations and the distribution networks are seperate arms. Not to the same extent that say Universal Music Group is a seperate entity from University movies.

The other bit is, you were on satelight .

best xmas present for me would be Firefly on BR......oh, and Mystery Science Theater 3000. although mst3k wouldn't benefit so much from the HD treatment - it's SUPPOSED to look cheesy & low quality (hmmmmm, maybe they should look @ HDDVD? )
