Default Sony just ***** me

Alright, so I called Sony up to get a shared account deactivated because the PS3 died and it was tying up a spot...

I was told that I violated the user agreement and now I lost that account...I purchased over 20 PSN games with this account...

what I want to know is if my sub accounts have been hit and if I lose access to these games by signing my PS3 onto the internet?...

I'm not exactly sure how this completely affects me...and I'll at least settle for playing games offline for right now...

does anyone know the ramifications of what just happened to me?

well, I can play them....but I'm not sure if I can play them online under a sub account....

I'm pretty sure I can play all the offline stuff with no problem......err I'm positive I can...

but I can't delete and re-download them....and I lost my trophies, but I don't really care about trophies....

I just want to know if these games are restricted from online play or not...like Warhawk or Fat Princess...

edit: just don't share your downloaded games you purchased and you won't have a problem here....which means you do not share your account other wise you violate your agreement...

damn...I thought that was allowed, because of the whole "5 ps3's" thing.

Plus many games have that thing about sharing with other people...can't remember exactly what it says.

I actually sort of regret game sharing with others, since I now own multiple PS3s and can no longer share with myself.

I just called back and got off the phone....and this is what I was told after cooling off..

actually..I said that I didn't understand why this violates the user agreement when Jack Tretton plugged this feature on more than one occasion...

"you're supposed to deactivate the account after sharing"...

......oh really? I didn't know that so can I have my account restored?

(pointless talking back and forth...account info etc. etc.)

and it wraps up with her putting me on hold twice, then having an attitude and asking for a call back.....now I am to receive a call back between 1-2 business days...

yes, you can play games online on another account, i just played MVC2 on my brothers account that i downloaded on my account (Same PS3.) online so you shouldn't have any problems.

P.S. The problems game sharing can cause needs to be addressed in a sticky.

What exactly do they mean by deactivating the account? If you delete the user that downloaded the games onto the PS3, it will also not let you play the games downloaded by that user, if it is exclusive to that user in ownership of the downloaded content.

you need to hassle them. I found out that it depends on who you talk to from customer services (some are jerks others aren't). DON'T LET THIS SLIP BY.

when I tried signing onto my account I received a DNS error...and somehow with this, the games that I have purchased are still working...

regardless...it looks like I should be getting my account back in a few days with a slap on a wrist..

I just won't be sharing anymore...that's all..

definitely....I just had to cool off after the conversation...

the guy I 1st spoke with just sounded like a miserable prick...and the 2nd time, I got someone who was somewhat friendly, but much friendlier than the 1st guy...

he was extremely sneaky as well.....and everyone should be warned about calling Sony regarding a matter like this...

Not just Sony Customer Services that does that, all other companies that have some kind of a customer support pay their employees to somewhat shut the door in the customer's face you spent well earned money to go for them. Heck if you want me to talk to them, I will show them just PM me with your console's serial number.

seriously don't take no for an answer.

I agree, to a point. You attract more bees with honey, as the saying goes, rather than vinegar. I agree that the OP shouldn't give up, but I would go about this in a calmer, more tactful approach.

Recently Sony removed Mortal Kombat II from the PSN store, and a lot of people who had purchased the game earlier (like me) could no longer find the game on their download list. Having just had my PS3 serviced, and needing to download all my content again, I was a bit unhappy. At first the rep I spoke with acted like she didn't believe my claims, like I was trying to scam a free game or something. But I was patiently persistent. She also offered the whole 1-2 business day call-back thing, but I ended up getting a call just a few hours later from a supervisor who gave me a new voucher code to download the game.

Customer service reps are people. They're besieged by douchebags on a daily basis, all for $9 an hour in a crappy cubicle when they'd rather be with their families or doing something else. If you come at them with attitude, they'll shut down. But if you demonstrate you are not a d-bag like they are expecting you to be, it's surprising what can happen and how quickly.

Exactly. Sharing games with other people so that only one of you has to buy the game, is a violation of the Terms of Service. As such, I think it's only natural that you don't receive any kind of support.

Sorry if I sound a bit cold and harsh, but it's like saying: "I used this rental car without paying and now that it broke down, they don't want to give me a replacement" ... yeah well ...

But when the meme is put out there that you can share games on up to 5 PS3's what is the natural reaction going to be by the masses?

I think it's a bit nonsensical to put that out and then act all shocked when people naturally get the idea that "hey, it's okay if we share games"

Especially when it's ALSO put out that if you delete the accouunt that it was originally bought from you can't play it anymore.

What else are people going to gather from that other than "Sony is okay with us sharing our games with up to 5 people, but no more than that".?
